Question

Hey 04 On 20's:

You have the exact same set-up that I am contemplating for my soon-to-be-ordered '05 -- standard cab, short box, 5.4, 3.73, etc.

How does your truck do at highway speeds? What kind of RPM's are you turning at say, 75 mph?

The only thing I have been debating is whether the 3.73 will give me good perfomance at highway speeds (?). I was thinking that gear ratio might make for a rather high "idle" when cruising down the highway on a long trip (?).

Give me some input if you can - thanks!

I raced a lifted F250 the other night with my '04 SuperCrew 4x4 5.4L and got my butt handed to me.....not sure I like my odds against a Hemi-roid.
Just added the Superchips, though, and am replacing the exhaust and adding intake...maybe then....

04' to an 03'

hey 20's, first off that is awesome you taking out a hemi, 2nd i was wondering if u have ever raced an 03 f150, how big the power difference. i got an '03 a year ago (04s just come out and they wanted like 35k for one)

anywayz i have the fx4 package 5.4 w/ k&n, magnaflow exhaust, 1715 ppr, efans, and u/pulleys. my gears are 3.55

i was just wondering if anyone knows if i could hang with stock '04s or the hemi?

if i got 3.73 or 4.10 how much of a difference you think that would make.

im trying to get my old man to buy an '04 i've never gotten the pleasure to ride in one. but i hear they are strong.

thanx for any feedback

it must have been a crew cab b/c those regular cab hemi's are quick as hell with the 3.92 ratio.

I have an 04 f150 fx4 sc 133wb. 3.73 Only thing it doesn't have is back up sensors and leather. The only add power wise is superchips pp. I race my buddy in his hemi. quad cab 3.92 1500 before the programming......I got handed...added the programmer....raced again..dead stop. I got him through 1st gear, with wheel spin...he caught up through second until my bumper was at the back of his front door....third gear, I passed him from 85 up. I was impressed by the programmer. way worth the money. Just a side note...my buddies hemi ate two pistons and destroyed the motor in only 5000 miles. Don't take it the wrong way, he doesn't race much, hell he barely drives it. He was towing an airboat on flat ground at 60mph. I told him I'd bring a car trailer and tow the truck and airboat back.. he declined.

To ddwellow the highway speeds are great. Even when traveling at like say 60 mph, the throttle response is still awsome with the 373's they stick and will shoot you off again if u go to pass. I love em hope that helps

to quagmeyer. I really haven't lined up and raced an 03 but im sure i would prolly beat depending on what mods he had done. But if i come incounter with one i will let yall know. Tommorows a new day.

I would think the Hemi would pull you on the top end if you gave it the chance...above 70 or so maybe? I dunno, I'v been waiting for someone younger than 65 in a Hemi to pull up next to me so I can see for myself...how come the old guys don't like to race??

If you smoked a Hemi, he was smoking crack and asleep.

You don't have to like the Dodge, but in an acceleration contest (stock) we lose.
