Seems to me they would easyily pull us from a stop. Driven all the new trucks (Titan, F150, Hemi, Tundra, Chevy comparable models) and the Dodge seemed the torquest. The Titan pulled super good too, but had a more powerful midrange (at least thats what the sotp said lol). The F150 with 5.4L seemed to have a really good top end. Once it was moving it seemed to like to move. Now that I own two 04's that sotp feeling would seem to be confirmed. Anyone else agree?

Bullitt your right sock 5.4s pull great once they reach about 3500 rpm. Just put in 92 tane tonight and the engine pulled real hard all the way to 90 mph to much in a 45 zone but iwas happy . Thanks superchips. Also DDELL i run about 1200 rpm cruising at 60 with 3.73 ls i get about 15.5 mpg after cover on. checking the 92 tane now .

the titans 5.6 and dodges 5.7 will all gain on the 5.4 slowly but surely.

so are guys in fords.

I dont care what yall say, he didnt pull that hemi unless it was a crew cab 4x4 with some 2.90 gears or something crazy like that.

You realize that those trucks are putting down 250-260rwhp STOCK? I have yet to see a dyno graph of a stock f150 put down more then 200rwhp. Combonation with their 3.92 gears and 5 speed transmission they are ALOT faster then our trucks. Sorry if I won't fall into the mindset of "ford f150 is god" like most of yall seem....

I've got to agree with FATHERFORD on this one. That guy must have been asleep at the wheel or just to p*ssy to step on it all the way. Either that or he slapped HEMI badges on his 4.7

5.7L gas guzzling monster + 3.92 + 5 speed auto = fast truck (not better truck, just faster). I believe the 5.4L Triton will be the better, more durable engine in the long run but that HEMI is good for racing.

04 On 20's & bluestang67:

Thanks for your comments regarding the 3.73's. I'll be ordering my dream truck (one that I'll probably keep the rest of my life) and want it to be set-up just right!

I'm with the last couple of posts...

If our beloved F150 beat a Ram Hemi in a drag race of sorts, that driver had no idea what he was doing.

I love my F150 but it ain't no Qtr mile beast.

Here are some performance stats:

Screw F150 - 16.9 @ 85 Mph in the Qtr
RAM Hemi Crew - 16.3 @ 87

A half a second is a big difference.

There were much better perf stats on the non quad cab for the Hemi. The difference was even greater.

I'm glad you beat the hemi but...I wouldn't talk too much trash to a Hemi driver...their likely to hand your doors to you after they blow them off.

I've done the whole drag racing on the street and strip with my 5.0 stang...maybe its my age but I don't see much point in racing a p/u.

Glad you won though....

This is what happens when kids buy trucks and think it is a hot rod.

I have a 2004 F-150 Lariat with the 5.4. My wifes Honda Odyssey will smoke the F-150. I think it will probably toast a Hemi too. I think most of you who think your truck is the fastest thing out there would really have your pants in a wad when you get toasted by a mini-van.

It is a truck..not a hot rod.. I bought my truck to haul things like boats and things for the house and yard..not race other trucks.

pepatrick, I use to live in cumming's! exit 16 folks still live there.

I use to race my Excursion all the time and would blow doors off of folks. But I realized that it's best to have a toy for thing's like that. That's why I haven't done anything to mine yet.

Oh ya I could out run Hondas with engine swaps. fastest I ran in the 1/8 was 9's 1/4 low 15's with an truck that weighed 7900lbs. But I know not everyone can afford toy cars so cool.

I think its possible. He didn't run a 1/4 guy, it was a rolling start at decent speeds. Plus who knows what the other driver was doing. I KNOW my truck isn't the fastest, but I would definitely go head-to-head on a rolling 50 to 80 mph race with a 'Hemi' 4 door. My F150 pulls strong and doubt the semi-hemi would walk away from me.

My big pig wont beat much but I know I sure can pull alot of ***** and can pass cars going 60 pretty easily. I didnt buy this huge Tank to race and yes if you wanted to race you should have bought a Mustang Cobra.

Of course if your still bent on racing your truck drop a Super Charger in and a heavy duty rear end and have at it.

I gave up all illusions of being fast when I put a 6" lift kit, 20 inch rims, and 36" tires on my truck. But take me out to a place to stomp around and get muddy and my truck will do lots of fun stuff.

Speed is just an illusion at some point you always have to slow down.

I do have to agree that I do not believe our 04 F-150 will beat any Hemi or Titan without modifications. Does that make the Dodge or Titan a better truck? I dont think so. I honestly believe that F-150 owners get way more truck for thier money then anything else out on the market.

I didnt buy my truck to race, I bought it for a daily driver and to be able to tow and haul stuff with. Although I am going to make it as fast as I can

Ill keep my 79 turbo/nitrous fed stang for the racing

The Ford is assuredly not the fastest, but I didnt buy it for that. It just has a feel to it that none of the other trucks did, and trust me, I drove them all. Many times. And I almost bought a Titan. That thing would pull! Push you back in the seat even! Great truck, but in the end I just liked a few things about the Ford better. To each his own, and I personally wouldnt mind owning a Titan (never a Hemi though, imo ugly! but thats me)

Here are some #'s on the trucks...

~Dodge Hemi 2500 Quad Cab 5.7L 4WD Auto- (0-60=8.54sec) (ET=16.55 at 81.57mph)
~Nissan Titan King Cab 5.6L 4WD Auto- (0-60=7.77sec) (ET=16.18 at 86.79)
~Ford F150 Supercrew 5.4L 4WD Auto- (0-60=9.41sec)
(ET=17.00 at 81.40)

Now not to be a mag racer (its likely these times were gotten in different situations, so they are not the best comparison), but look at the trap speeds. Now this is the street we are talking about, and with the similar trap speeds it looks like the Titan gets out of the box first, closely followed by the Dodge and then the Ford.

The Titan easily pulls both Dodge and Ford, but near the end of the 1/4, the Ford is gaining speed, possible closing some slight distance between the Dodge and itself.

So in conclusion, it is completely possible on the street for a Ford to beat a Dodge. It is the street after all.

Well, if he is on 20's in his F-150...no way. I can say that I have beaten a HEMI fair and square at the track over and over again.

I have the Reg. Cab Short Bed 5.4L w/ 3.73LS 4x2 and 17" wheels. I raced my friends HEMI 4x2 R/C S/B with 3.55's and I beat him by 1 tenth every time. On the road, I pull on him 1 truck length at about 60mph and then it is dead even once we hit 80mph and it stays there.

A R/C S/B HEMI with 3.92's is untouchable in my truck in stock trim. My 1/8 mile time is 9.95@71.5mph and my friends HEMI w/ 3.55's time was 10.12@69.5mph. Unless you have 4.10's in this F-150 set-up, my truck is essentially the lightest available with the lowest gears and the 5.4L. So, I know for sure I have not been able to beat a R/C S/B HEMI with 3.92's. Quad Cab HEMI...oh yeah !!! Killed. R/C S/B HEMI with 3.55's....slightly killed.
