I looked but I didn't see the "other toy" section. I must have been blind. Thank you. Thats a beautiful car. Who would have ever thought that a v6 could do all that. I've been looking to pick one up myself. Best price so far is 17,000 Grand.

ok Sorry for the hijack of the thread.

I just took it in and told my service adviser that I had some hesitation and mentioned the software update I knew was available. They checked for codes, test drove it, then performed the PCM update. My truck was built in November '03, so they did it no questions asked. The trucks built in April already have the latest software, so if there are problems with these trucks, there might be other issues that need to be adressed. If your dealer won't do it, find another dealer. Ford recognizes this is a real problem and want's their customers happy.

There is a hint of hesitation because its electronic but no where near as bad as you describe. Certainly cheaper than a 400dollar tuner and at least that will tide you over if you decide on the tuner.

Mine was built in April and it has the lag, big time. I drove my daughter's car the other day and almost drove right into the side of a car passing in front of me that I was pulling out behind! It really made me realize how I've gotten used to the lag.

Someone else mentioned this test and it will really tell how bad the lag is. While idling in park, quickly press the gas pedal to the floor and release it. My engine will only rise about 200 rpm.

This is strictly a software problem, as evident with the elimination of the lag with the Supertuner. My wife's Infiniti has an electronic throttle and you would never know it. I had to look to make sure.

I sure hope the lag is fixed with a reflash. I'm waiting on my 1st oil change to have it done.

That's interesting because the software that was installed in mine is the same program that the April '04's have. I guess they can't always be right. I still recommend having the reflash done before using the supertuner just to make sure that all the stock settings are right before doing the performance upgrade.
