Adding a sub to the Audiophile
I am pricing out a couple of different options right now. Down at my local sterio shop they told me they could build a custom box that would house 3 JL 10"s. 400 bucks for the box alone. Does that sound high???
Also I have a Sony 5DI head unit with the little video screen and a memory stick slot inside. Would it be worth it to have this installed? It was like 1200 bucks new. Otherwise I think I will sell it.
Also how are the audiophile speakers? Can I get away with running these with a new sub? Thanks!

Thats what I did, I added a pair of JL Audio tweeters in the front doors, built a sub box for under the passenger side rear seat which houses a JL Audio subwoofer, re-located the jack and put a Alpine base amp under the passenger side front seat. About $350. buck in material by time you are done with all the hardware and everything.

I think the speakers sound pretty good with the audiophile. Id like upgrade my sub too but i heard theres no way to do this without changing the head unit. Sucks. Id like to keep everything stock looking, less to worry about as my truck sits on the street.

JL Audio 8 Poly Subwoofer (75W, 4 Ohm) - $89.00
JL Audio .75 Silk Dome W/ X-Over - $100.00
Alpine MRP-T220 Bass Amp - $162.00
HPM 10 Gauge Wire Kit W/RCA - $29.00
Sub Box dimensions (down-firing) Ύ plywood glued and screwed
12 by 9 width & length
6 ½ front height 5 rear height (does not include feet)
4 - 1 ½ by 1 ½ feet placed at the corners
Black speaker box carpet glued on all sides
The tweeters were a snap to install because when you pull off the front speaker grills (they just pry off) the mounting holes are already there. My JL Audio tweeters came with crossovers (everything plugged in together to the existing speaker)
The amp is under the front passenger seat. Had to get a #10 wire under the carpet and through the firewall to connect directly to the battery. The wire is fused inches from the battery. Also had to run wire with RCA plugs under the carpet from the amp to the head. The sub box is under the rear passenger seat. I relocated my jack to my toolbox in the bed. Had to run a wire from the sub box under the carpet to the amp.
When you run the wires pull the passenger side door floor trim off. Theres plenty of room for wires there. The trim around the head unit in the dash pulls off. Start at the bottom.
It made a huge difference in sound quality, crisp clean highs, full midrange and thumping clear bass, more than enough for me.
