Dealing with the Dealer

Need help in dealing with dealer. I now have 4500 miles on my truck and at 55mph bedshake with the steering wheel starting to shake. I honestly think it is the tire as when in Drive, OD, and Nuetral this happens. I called the dealer explained the problem and now they have me down as "Customer wants Tire Balance". I asked the receptionist to change that so it doesn't say I'm requesting it as I am not sure this is the problem. I did say that I did not now if it was the tires or not but I did not ask then to only check the tires. IS there any way I can pinch them and make them check the truck over? So far the only think I have come up with is to draft a letter and send it to the Attorney General and put in the the DSB. I'd rather not start a fight though.

Any ideas?

Even in neutral your drive shaft is still turning. Make sure your dealer does a road force balance. Here is a good page that explains what road force is and how to correct it.

Thanks for the link, To answer the above question: to see if the tranny is causing I tested the truck in drive, od, and shifted into nuetral at 55mph.

Should having the tires check out be covered under warranty?

I had a bad tire that was replaced at about 1,000 miles. I took it to my dealership and complained of a slight vibration at about 45 mph. The service department was very accommodating. They checked it out and ended up replacing my right front tire because it had excessive road force. It took about a week to get the tire because they had to order it. It was covered under warranty. My truck has been perfect ever since. I had it since 10-24-03 and it was built in Kansas City 9-03.
