Calling all Undercover owners.

I've got mine and I really like it.

Not quite as light and easy to put on as I thought but doable. That girl in their ads must be a brute.

Here is my question.

I hate the keyrings that are used to secure the cover near the cab.

A. Looks cheesy.
B. Has pulled the black paint off the brackets so I'm sure it will rust.
C. Not quick to work with.

I've looked at retaining pins and cotter pins. Their ok but not the greatest. What are you guys using?

Thanks
Jim

I love my undercover, and can't say I've noticed the issue. How the heck are you seeing it? Stop looking!

I'm pretty sure they lowered the cover on the gal for a brief sec and snapped the photo. I think a kid could hold 45lbs assuming it was balanced for them. The covers bulkly to handle, but not heavy.

I agree the key rings are a pain. I haven't figured out a good solution, though. Otherwise I really like the cover...

I have to agree, I think the rings are stupid. Although I havent tried, my bet is they are a PITA to get off to, judging by how hard they were for me to get on in the first place. I havent realy looked into any other ideas for securing it, but I will definitely let you know if I come up with anything....

I do like the cover otherwise

I've had my Undercover for about 4 months now and love the look. As far as the key rings, I went the hardware store and bought two 1/4" carabeaners (think repelling). Then took my dremal tool and groved out the hole a little and they fit perfectly. I was worried about the fastener freezing, but just took a little grease an rubbed it on the treads. My only other dislike is the two locks with needing the key every time to open. I wish they made a push button stlye lock to open, but then if you wanted to lock for security, then you could just turn the key to lock it.

I assume you are talking about something like this:

http://www.chockstone.org/TechTips/CrabBrake.htm

Correct?

If so, how big were they...I imagined you had to ream the hole out to be pretty big.

Not a bad idea...just not sure I want those big clips hanging there.

I am going to paint my retaining clips black and keep looking...I'm stopping at home depot to see if they have something like you suggested.

Vader716,
Sorry, I should have been more specific. (We use a different type of carabeaner for rope rescue). In my gallery is some photos of the undercover with the carabeaners. I hope this helps.

Sorry, this is the first time I've tried to link my gallery. I still have to learn how to do it.
