elf1fiddy,

I would not worry to much, my F150 still pulls good, I was maintaining 55-60 on 5% grades. Being your in MS you will not have any mountain grades to deal with. On gradual grades it pulled just fine and 70 mph was not difficult. I am coming to believe that part of my problem is the shift points are not as good on the new F150. I will probably be getting a tuner when I get back from Moab next week. BTW, looks like that TJ needs to get out west for some rock crawling.

FWIW, I have been averaging around 13.5 mpg around town, this last trip I did 11.5 mpg towing the YJ through mountain grades going about 80 mph, rarely using OD. It does help not having a windsheild for towing.

YEOW, I recall seeing you on JU, sorry you had to loose your TJ, but as you said it's a hobby vehicle and not a family one. I'm sure when its feasable you will be back. My ID is zman on JU.

Here is a video of me last year in Moab when my YJ was sportin 32's. Moab

I just got back from my maiden voyage towing with my FX4 Screw(5.4,3.73). I tow a 24' fifth wheel rv with a loaded weight of 5800 and a tounge weight of 1000 lbs. I was pretty impressed even though I could not keep up with a 2500 duramax pulling a 31' fifth wheel on the hills I could pace him on the highway. It towed comfortably at 70 with not much movement. I have since installed the power programmer(tow perf) and I am looking forward to testing it out on my next voyage a 1200 mile trip to Florida.

I really like our supercrew, the interior is sweet and the ride is top notch. However; I am a little dissapointed with the power and maybe I am expecting too much. I have a F350 Crew Cab Lariat with the 6.0 powerstroke and that truck may not ride as nice and I don't like the interior as much but I just got back from a 700 mile round trip to go Caribou hunting and that truck pulled like a locomotive. I had about 7,000 lbs. in tow and I was passing everything, Especially on the 7% grades. I had the edge juice set on the 50 hp setting and had a grin on my face most the trip.

I'm hoping that an exhaust and programmer will wake this 5.4 up a little bit. Shouldn't this truck should break the rear tires loose? I think there is some torque management BS going on kind of like the Hemi in the dodge's.

elf1fiddy,
I too am in Mississippi, just on the other side of Jackson from you. I live just outside of Clinton. Where did you buy your truck?

I bought it from watson ford.I tried gray -daniels but they wanted to try and play games.I feel I did well with watson almost $9000 under msrp and the salesmen were striaght forward as much as a saleman can be.
What flows did you put on and where did you get your tint done?

Thats cool, I tried to buy from both of thosew dealers, but wound up going to the Ford Dealer in Canton. They were the most willing to deal with me, it was worth the drive.

I put the Flowmaster 40 series SI/DO on it and it sounds great. I had a little muffler shop here in Clinton do the work for me. He has done several of my trucks and it was one of the first stops I made after getting the truck.

I have a woman that does my tinting for me. She used to own a shop here in town, but now just does it on the side. She will do it any % you want and she is really good. As a matter of fact, I had my whole house done to cut down on my electric bill. Email me and I will give you her number.

Fresh motor (give it another 5k miles)
4WD
Larger tires/wheels than your 98 F-150

Those all affected acceleration.
