Question 2004 Cat Size

I am interested in putting a catback exhaust system on my 4.6 2004, however, I understand that the diameter of the pipe coming off the cat. converter shouldn't exceed the diameter of the cat to avoid torque loss at lower RPM's?Correct me if I am wrong. That being said, what is the diameter of the Cat. converter and what size pipes should I order to avoid loss of backpressure?Thank's,Alan

are you buying a kit or just building one yourself?

3" exhaust is what all the cat back kits are made out of.

3" then it necks down to something like 2 3/4 where the cat back hooks up to then goes back to 3"
