Question Intake kits for the 5.4 3V anyone?

I am thinking about doing the intake on my truck, but who has the best system?

Here are a few that are out there:

AIRAID Intake System (Part#400-140)

TrueFlow Air Intake System (Part#20502)

Volant Cool Air Intake; w/ Box (Part#VOL19754-SY)

K&N's AirCharger Off-Road & Racing Performance Kits (Part#63-1089)

Air Force One Intake Kit (Still NOT available) "any clue on when this one will be out"

I would like to wait on the AFO kit.. but I am unsure how long that wait will be.

Those of you that have already installed an intake kit on your 5.4 3V let me know what you liked and didn't like about it.

Kinda a PROs and CONs on the current intake kits that are out there....

Thanks for your input!

Airraid is the answer goto www.troyerperformance.com and read it there.Unbeliavable extra hp gain with a header and a catback exhaust system you won not even need the tuner.

Yup, I've the Airaid on mine. Just make sure you follow the directions to the "T". Otherwise you're looking at MILs & codes.

I just installed the AIRAID intake system along with the Poweraide Throttle Body Spacer yesterday. It took my about an hour and I only ran into a minor problem with the Emission Control Light (Looks like the Engine on the dash).

I called AIRAID and one of the techs told me that I must have been missing some washers (spacers) for the Mass Airflow Sensor. I went down to Orchard Supply bought a couple of washers put them on to space the Mass Airflow Sensor a bit away from the intake and BAM!!! The system light went off.

Turns out AIRAID didnt send me the little MAS screws or washers.

Anyways, follow the instructions and you should have very little problems installing the intake system if you choose to go with AIRAID. One thing to watch for is to make sure your intake is seated onto the Throttle Body all the way down completely seated properly.

I noticed an immediate difference in the response from the truck it is much faster off the line and pretty much got rid of the lag from the Throttle by Wire problem.

My 1714 SuperChip Tuner will be here tommorow!!!! I cant wait to put in the 91 Hi performance mods! Yeah it sucks I live in California and can only get 91 Octane!

Anyway I would definitly recommend the AIRAID system if your looking for more HP and an easy to install air intake system specifically built for the 5.4L 3v Triton on our new Trucks.

Where did you order you spacer and airaid intake from, what'd you pay? How does the intake sound? Does it make the exhuast loader too?

Anyone have any clue on Air Force One is going to release their intake?

I've got a question in to Troyer on the Air Force One. I've got it in my wishlist along with a 1714 tuner and underdrive pulleys. I'll probably go for an Airaid if it is still some time before the AFO finally gets out.

I bought the Airintake and TBS from airaidsales.com directly from airaid paid just around $400 for both the intake and TBS and shipping.

The truck sounds alot throatier (is that a word? ) You can hear the air being sucked in as well. The TBS makes a whistling noise when you give it some gas sounds a wee-bit like gear drive but not quite.

Just heard back from Anita at Troyer... she said that they don't expect to see a test part for about a month, which probably means a little more time between testing and selling.

Looks like an Airaid right now for me.

Do those throttle body spacers do anything? Any real gains? I have always heard they were garbage.

I just put in the 1714 Superchip mods and WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOOw what a difference! Man even my big piggy kicks your a$$ back into the seat when I punch it!

As for the whistling that the TBS makes it doesnt bother me with the stereo on. I did notice I am getting better gas mileage but I am watching it for a few full tanks to post numbers its gonna take a few weeks!

I am totally impressed with Troyers service and suggest buying any and all thier F 150 parts from them.

The tuner was just way to simple to put in and get running!

I got my tunner last night too. DAMN! My "PIG" runs like a stripped a$$ ape now! It was worth every penny I paid! The simplest mod yet....

Thank troyer! This thing is so out of control! I love it!

Time for a gator back belt... cuz it makes that stock fan belt sqweel out like the "pig" it is!

gatorback belt?

Is a new belt really necessary with the 1714 tuner?

Has anyone had slippage problems?

No slippage here I have both the AIRAID and 1714 SuperTuner installed.
