door switch lights

In an effort to find out why my door switches get warm I found that in broad daylight the switch lights are on. Is this normal?

Nope. The only thing I can think of is that you have your light switch set to the automatic position, and there is something on the dash covering the sensor, therefore simulating darkness and your lights are on all the time. When you checked the door switches did you happen to look at the headlights and see if they were on also? Just a thought. Otherwise, sounds like a wiring issue.

The headlights weren't on. I was sitting in my drive way when I noticed it. I'm going to double check tomorrow and then go back to the ford dealer and yell at them for not noticing this the first time I took it in for hot door switches.

There is nothing wrong with your truck as far as the lights in your switches go. My XLT does the same thing, except that Ive not noticed them getting hot. I think a lot of people dont notice this because of the daylight making it hard to see the lights on in the window switches. To sum it up when the ignition is turned on the window switch lights come on, that goes for all the window switches even the rear sliding window switch. Hope this helps, but if you feel the switches are getting to hot take it to the dealer for a look see.

I looked today, and I could (barely) see the lights on the steering wheel controls. Could not see them on the window controls, but I'd bet they were on too. Have never had them get hot.

So I would say everything is kosher with your truck.

To all,

Thanks for looking. I'll give it a little more time and then decide on going to the dealer or not.
