SCREW's have midget doors!

In the past I've heard people complain about 2004 F-150 blind spots and bad comfort for resting your arm up on the door/window opening.

I'm 6' tall and own a SCAB. I normally drive with my seat (power) in just about full rear position. Today I drove the identical truck to mine except it was a SCREW and WOW what a difference. I can definately agree with those who have complained about blind spots; If I look directly to the left all I can see is b-pillar. I also didn't like the fact that I couldn't comfortably rest my arm on the window opening.

After driving the truck I measured the doors against my SCAB and they along with the windows are 7 inches smaller in length. I didn't measure, but it almost looks like the back door window is bigger than the front... kind of out of proportion in my opinion.

Also, the regular cab doors are the same size as the SCREW's.

Just thought I'd pass on this information to anyone who's complained about this. I told my friend (SCREW owner) about it and let him drive my truck and he was kind of upset.

baja150,

I agree with you. After being used to my super cab doors its funny to see the smaller super crew doors.

I never noticed until I pulled up to one in a parking lot and looked out my door and seen his driver door.

I too wondered why people were complaining about having no where to put their arms on the door.

I also wondered. I actually thought they were talking about the height of the door, not the length.
Of course, on my SCab, there are times in a parking lot where I would appreciate those shorter doors. Sometimes it's like getting out of my '67 Galaxie 500 2 door fast back.

Since I never drove a scab I guess I don't know what I'm missing. The doors and arm position of the 04 screw are good in my opinion.

Thanks for pointing that out. I have a supercab and never noticed that, and also wondered about why people were complaining about resting their arm on the door. Now I know.

After reading these posts I’m going out today and trade in my SCREW for a SCAB. I didn’t realize what a piece of crap I was driving until this thread enlightened me.

I have a Screw, and I'm a arm-door rester. But the Screw has taught me that I just shouldn't do that any more. Very uncomfortable. In my Taco, I can't extend my legs all the way on long trips. It's just different, and you get used to it.

As far as the blind spot is concerned, I thought it was a problem at first, but I quickly go used to it. While I don't have one, one of those little convex mirrors does the job.

I love the shorter SCREW doors. I dont know how many times I've been in a tight parking space(including every morning and evening in my garage) where if my door was 7" longer it would be a major PITA to get in and out. Also, the front door on the Screw is 43", the rear door 36". More balanced looking than the Dodge with the longer front door and tiny back door. You can have your long doors!!!
