Thanks for the replys. As far as the ride quality debate I love the ride my truck gets but lets face it if I was worried it about that much I would have bought one of those fancy riding SUV's not an off-road package. I won't be doing the install myself so the only deciding factor there is if my shop will charge me more to install the daystar than other kits because of the difficulty.

Grayflare,
Just out of curiosity what size tires are you running on your truck with the lift. I have my eyes set on some 295 Nitto TerraGrapplers. I don't think I should have any problems running them with the lift but thought I would ask before ordering them.

jpdadeo supplied a link to a leveling kit offered on ebay and mftrd by topguncustomz. As they describe their "patent pending" install, seems that it would be preferable to Daystar, Autospring, Protech, etc as it doesn't require increasing spring preload and therefore stiffening up the ride.
Any thoughts?

I just installed the topguncustomz kit from e-bay. This lifted the truck about 3" in the front. I have the BFG 275 65R18 tires on stock rims. I measure about 39" from ground to fender now. I installed the lift in about 2 hours. I brought the truck in to ford for the alignment for $65.00. The truck rides like before and looks great.

To remove the strut you have to separate the upper ball joint from the spindle where it attaches to the upper control arm. I used a 2 arm ball joint tool so i would not damage the ball joint rubber boot.

Can I ask a really stupid question? Why do you guys want your trucks to be level? I really like the aggresive stance that our trucks have now with a little lift in the back.

Is it for clearance issues? Do you just think it looks better with the front-end higher?

Someone help me out here.

IMO it doesn't look aggressive it looks silly. I want a more level appearance because that's what I like, plus the added benefit of allowing larger tires which gives more clearance and a taller stance.

It's all in what you like!

That TopGun leveling kit on eBay is identical to the AutoSpring kit. Same easy install without losing the soft ride. I got the 1 ½” AutoSpring kit and it’s great.

Fair enough, I don't know about "silly" but I still think it looks good now with the lower front-end angle. I do want to lift the truck about 2.5 inches all around and get some bigger tires, hopefully 33" and I am trying to find the best way to get started here.

quick pic

The 1 ½” AutoSpring kit gave me 2 ¼” of lift. The rear of my truck sits 1” higher than the front now.

Thx for clarifying that Autospring and topguncustomz have identical install location. Couldn't get link that you supplied to Autospring to work.
