Oil Filter and Engine Clicking....

Folks,

Just wanted to make note of something I noticed over the weekend with my oil change.

This is my second oil change for my truck, 6K on it now. The dealer did the first one. So I was down at the part store looking at oil filters for my truck. I would have used a motorcraft but they were not in stock. I was tore between the bosch and Mobel1 high flow filters. So I settled for the bosch oil filter.

Now I have read a few threads in the past that made note of a clicking sound from the engine at ideal. I notice this off and on my truck quite often, but I did find it a problem, sense it others noticed it with their trucks too.

Anyway I changed the oil and filter using Valvoline 5w20 and the bosch filter. Then I spent some time run errands around town.
To my discovery the clicking sound was gone.... Two day now still no clicking.

So it got me thinking.... I have a buddy that owns a 97 Chevy with a V-6 262. His engine had a similar clicking issue. I remember reading a truck magazine addressing this issue. The suggestion was to use only an AC Delco filter to solve the clicking in the engine at idea. Something about the flow design in the filter. Anyway this solved his clicking problem too.

I know these are two different engine here, but the fix maybe the same for both. IF it needs to be fixed at all...

So maybe this may work for others noticing the clicking, just wanted to through this out there for us to think about....

Comments please!
