Problem with Throttle by Wire?

I have a 2004 XLT 4x4 regular cab long box, 5.4, 3.73 gears, limited slip, General P255 AT tires, and 35.7 gallon tank. About every 1100 miles I notice improved performance - higher shift points, more aggressive down shifts, disappearance of throttle lag, etc. I didn't notice any difference when the truck hit 5500 miles, and the truck now has a little over 6000 miles.

The other day it rained, and I noticed that I could not pull away from a stop light without breaking the rear tires loose, regardless of how lightly I touched the gas pedal (about 3/8 to 1/2 tank of gas). With the slightest pressure on the gas pedal, the truck would immediately jump off idle at 750 RPM to between 1750 and 2000 RPM (about 15 to 20 MPH in 1st gear), a little more pressure on the gas pedal sometimes causes the rear of the truck to swing to the side. I now have a similar problem on gravel roads and driveways when lightly touching the accelerator to allow the truck to crawl forward.

The truck will sometimes chirp the rear tires when taking off on dry asphalt with 1/4 throttle, and will usually leave fairly long black marks at 1/2 to full throttle. 0 to 60 times are about what would be expected for a heavy 4x4 truck.

Does this indicate a problem with the throttle by wire design (a little too much compensation for the throttle lag that was present a couple 1000 miles ago), the brakes are sticking, or is it normal?

If you think there may be a problem you can always take it in to the dealer and tell them what is going on. They can pull the codes from the computer's memory if there are any. Then you will have something in writing one way or another.

Grayflare, thanks for the advice. I will have to get in contact with the dealership.

n99gt, my truck also has power adjustable pedals - it is a little dangerous to adjust them when accelerating, but I have not touched them since I bought the truck last November. This does raise a question, is it possible that the truck is misreading the position of the gas pedal due to the position of the power adjustable pedals?
