OK, I just had to go out and check my tailgate. No problems with mine.

I have the slack problem...had the dealer change the cable, and it was worse with the newer one like someone else mentioned. I just hope that there are enough complaints that they make a shorter cable to take out the slack.

Now I have a stupid water leak problem to deal with...brake light issues leaking?

Has anyone figured out what causes this yet?

Has anyone figured out what causes this yet? I was just thinking about it...did a search...and came up with this thread that is over a year old.

Just they way **** is, deal with it. With them being longer/shorter it doesnt change anything. Many trucks have similiar problems, but its always the nit-picky ford owners that think something is wrong.

Look at it this way, at least they aren't rusting out like the Silverado's...at the same time...yet.

Had a friend doing some pruning on the gate of his 98/99 Silverado and SNAP down the tailgate and he goes. Both cables rusted and when the tighter one went, the second couldn't take the stress.

Me nit-picky? That's hilarious! My truck hasn't even been back to the dealer once since I bought it...16 months and still going strong with no problems. I'm just trying to think of everything that I want them to note on my record when I take it in for the engine tick that has developed on both heads. Maybe I'll get a PCM reflash too, since it still has the original flash. How many times has little Anth been back to the dealer?
