how'd they know my mileage?

I was just at ford.com and I was checking out myford for any messages. In the past the site has always asked for my milage, but this time it told me exactly how many miles I had on my truck. Exactly how are they getting this info, what else are they tracking, and I if I want to is there a way to shut this off?

I think that when you set it up, it asks what mileage that you start with and then you average miles per year or something and then it calculates from there.

It all has to do with those towers y'all see along the highways and freeways...it's a guv'ment spy system. Big bro is tracking all yur c-phone communications and yur truks mileage and reporting it to the central people-watch aka 666. BEWARE!!!

have you been in the dealership recently?? everytime you take your vehicle in they write down the mileage and put it into their computer. Ford does know everytime you get your oil changed, and what youve been taking your vehicle in for..... thats just a thought? if youve taken it in recently maybe the website will have the statistics on your truck

I hope there aren't any Ram or Titan owners reading this thread! Imagine how much flak us Ford owners are going to get when they find out Ford is hacking our trucks and sending them info! Remember to never insert any of your credit cards into any slot in your truck, as Ford may also get that information and use it to recoup the cost of R&D that was put into this truck!

Not to drag this post back up but I figured id give my 2 cents, since ive been gone for a little while. I did a little time working as a service writer at a ford dealership. Your exact mileage is recorded every time you bring it in for service. It has to be, thats how ford tracks problems with vehicles and keeps track of what vehicles are under warranty or not. Once its in the computer ford then accesses the info and uses it to update there website. From there its just a basic calculation (a guess basically) on what your mileage is each month. So those of you who like to turn back the odometer to get a few more miles out of your warranty..make sure its not turned back lower than it was the last time you had it in for service, they'll get ya then...SO dont worry, theres no onboard computer sending signals to a guy in a little dark office up in alaska telling him you just pulled into the adult book store and you have 69 miles on your truck. Just have fun and drive it.

thanks

thanks brewdude. I have a friend who is an engineer at ford and she told me the same thing once I got a hold of her. I hadn't been in to service it for a while so I guess that it was just a hell of guess by ford.
