A week ago I bought an '04 F150 STX 4x4, dark shadow grey. The dealer had put a pinstripe on that I thought I liked, but now I have decided to have it taken off (I like the cleaner look). I was wondering if there would be a ghost stripe on this new of a paint job?

Rod the best way for a paint strip is a light wet sand and buff. The chems in paint from stripe will most likely leave a ghost of its self. You may also try a little lacquer thinner but will still need a buff.Logan a little goo be gone will wash off any residue of glue from the tape.

 

rodnash - painted pinstripes or lettering will come off using easy off oven cleaner. Yes oven cleaner. We use it all the time on motorcycles. It doesn't seem to affect the factory paint. Try it in a small spot first.

 

Most all paint and body shops use a special solution that will remove pinstripping.

 

If it is a tape pinstripe use a heatgun or hair dryer, and your fingers. Very easy.
