I haven't seen any yet, but in the past I have bought Haynes.
There might be something better out there.

Get the real service manual at:
www.helminc.com

This is what the factory uses. I think it is $190 for the service manual. Much more complete than a Haynes or Chilton. This is the description:
Shop Manual has over 3000 pages of detailed repair instruction written by Ford. Information contained in each body type specific manual, has been developed to aid technicians in diagnosing and repairing vehicle components and systems. Each manual covers the entire vehicle bumper to bumper including specifications, diagnosis and testing, in vehicle repairs, component removal and installation and complete engine and transmission rebuilding. For Specifications Manual, Supplements and other items, please begin new search.

Note: For engine emissions controls and transmission/transaxle controls diagnosis, also purchase the Powertrain Control/Emissions Diagnosis manual.

Plus you can get other manuals for the truck such as emissions, wiring, powertrain ectera.

I've used the Helm manuals before and if you're going to do some of your own repairs this is what need. They aren't cheap but we all know you get what you pay for. Go for it...

The Motorcraft/Ford manual can be downloaded for $16.95 for 30 day access. Srvice manual is in PDF, an easy download, the rest a mix of htm, text, gif and pdf. The cost includes the wiring details and powertrain diagnostics etc. Good value I thought, got most of it downloaded, have to subscribe again to get the rest!

Hey thanks for the info guys. I wouldn't mind paying more for something more detailed than the Haynes.

How much are Hayes manuals for the '04 f-150 and how many pages etc. I'm sure the Helm must be the best for $190 but I know most of these high-tech service procedures are over my head. I could use something to guide me on some of the basic needs but I know the Chiltons didn't used to be worth a hoot compared to the Motors but haven't heard anything about Motors so they might not be around now. Also, where are the Hayes manuals sold?

I would recommend the Ford Service Manual as used in Ford dealerships, with it you could strip down and rebuild your rear axle and loads of other stuff.

I bought the Haynes manual for my old Jeep Grand Cherokee from Autozone.

I don't recall how many pages were in my Haynes for my '96 Ranger. I gave the manual up with the truck. I think the manual was about $30 at the most from PepBoys. However, I don't think the Haynes manual is out yet for the '04.
