It's Finally Here!!!

Actually we picked it up the evening of June 30... just in time to take it away for a 5 day long weekend.

It is also offically broken in as we put about 1000 miles on it.

So now the 2004 XLT Crew 4x4 replaces the 98 XLT reg cab short box.

Have to admit, I had a tear in my eye when I said goodbye to the old truck. Damn I'm gonna miss it. It was a blast to drive.

As much as I love this new truck, I just can't throw it around like the old one.

That being said...

this truck is phenominal!

Tons of highway passing power (on hilly, curvy 2 lane roads)

Super comfortable on the long drive (8 hours each way)

I can not believe all of the storage space: 4 full length map pockets, dash tray, in dash bin, over head bin, big *** console.

Overall a fantastic truck. Getting looks from everyone. More than once I came back to the truck from a store to find people with their noses pressed to the glass.

Oh, and before I forget:

Thanks.

Forgot one other thing...

those mirrors. oh my are they ever large. large in a good way.

With this truck, I see that Ford actually listened to their focus groups (thats the only way to explain these improvements)

I think I want to get a Westin Bull Bar in chrome (to match the Ford tubular steps and chrome bumpers)

Soft tonneau comes next (had a fibreglass tonneau on the 98 and don't want that again)

Windows are already tinted so dark you can't see a thing in the back seat (dealer arranged to have this done upon arrival)

I think I will wait until the warranty is up before any performance mods... I will stick with appearance for now.
