Fix Your Junk
Fix Your Junk
It first started with the fog lamp that Ford refuses to replace even though everytime it rains or you wash the truck it fills up with condensation. Now they won't replace the defective front brake rotors that have been turned twice in 3500 miles. Obviously these are bad rotors and turning them is not going to fix this problem. I am not mad about the parts being defective it is the chicken**** crap about replacing them. Oh well, it will be easy to refer people to the Chevrolet or GMC lot.
Sounds like you should refer then to another Ford dealer. The one your going to has a crappy service dept. Get on their **** about it. Don't think that a GM or whatever service dept is any better... they all suck. You want something done right either do it yourself or b*tch until they can't stand to hear it anymore and do it right. Sad, but true.

The problem is not the dealer. Stood right there while they called Ford about both problems. Ford refused to replace the light or the brake rotors. Wouldn't matter if you went to 50 dealers, it is the parent company that ultimately decides what to do.

When I brought in my truck...they didnt call Ford. They just hooked me right on up, fixed the sticking door...no questions asked.
I could have fixed it myself...but inst that what a warrenty is?

Trust me, none of the other brands are much better. Went through a hassle with a flakey oil pressure sender on a 94 GMC 3/4ton 4x4. Service department said wildly erattic readings were normal. Talked to sales manager, who is a friend of my dad, and he told them to change it anyway. Came back later that day, service said they changed it. When I got home I looked and the sender was still covered in mud.
Like everyone else said, find another service department.

Find yourself a different dealer. On my '02 SCrew, the local dealer turned my rotors free of charge with about 17K miles on the truck. At 34K miles, the brakes were starting to vibrate pretty badly again, so I took it in again, and they replaced my rotors under warranty, no questions asked. And I didn't even buy my truck from this place (but after receiving that kind of service, I bought my next truck (04 SCrew Fx4) from them).
As I agree it seems strange, I feel like I need to step in and say something in his defense as I've had a similar situation with my truck.
I took my truck down to my local dealership not too terribly long ago. This isn't the dealership where I bought my truck but I have developed a personal relationship with them through oil changes and a recent trans. service. While I was there I mentioned that I had a seal around my door that had cracked. Naturally, being inside of warranty, I wanted to have this addressed as I was about to roll over the 36k mark. The service manager (which is who I have dealt with since day one there) explained to me that he knew it wouldn't be a problem however; he'd have to take a digital photograph of it and send it to Ford for approval. Naturally, I inquired that he didn't have to do that last time when he changed a leaky fog light assembly for me but, he said that this was a new inititive that they were moving forward with in order to prevent fradulent warranty claims. He went on to explain that the reason it had come to that was because of a few dishonest dealerships filing claims that were totally bogus in order to snag some additional time/labor/fees off of the warranty system.
It goes without saying that I got the door seal taken care of but, I did witness him take pictures, bring the camera inside the office area, fill out an online form, attach the picture(s) and hit a 'SUBMIT' button.
In short, there may be some validity to what this guy is saying however; I can't verify that. I can only attest to my personal experience which was described above.
