I'm goin with the 4.56's as well. I was gonna hold off for a while but 4 Wheel Parts Wholesalers is having a 50% OFF labor sale on Sat, June 12! $700 in labor cut in half! I don't know if there's a 4WPW in Florida but this might be your golden opportunity to pull the trigger. I installed my Rancho lift kit on my own.... but I fear the gears!

I got a price of ~$420 for front and rear gears from Drivetrain Warehouse. How much did you pay, if you don't mind sayin?

Does anyone else know of a less expensive resource? I know there is a lot of shops out there.

Whats the major concern with the gears? Dont you think the 3.73 gears will be enough with the 35" tires. I would say its about the limit but I havent thought about swapping gears. I am sure you will suffer a little on accelleration but is it worth the 500-1000 bucks? Anyone a little more knowledgable on this please explain. I do understand the concept of gearing but not the neccesity of it in this situation.

schmidty, i got front and rear for $360 i cant remember how much more the shipping was. i dont know if there is a 4wps around here but thanks for the headsup.a local guy is putting the rancho lift on in a couple days, i didnt really trust myself with that, nor would i the gears. i usually get fairly good deals with him cuz this is not the first work hes done for me. how do you like the lift, what wheels and tires did you go with?

i guess its not really a problem for the 3.73 gears but if you do the math i this with 35"s the truck has like 3.8something so i guess were just looking to keep the truck running the same

Did you mean the truck is actually running more like 3.3? not 3.8. Also wont swapping gears mess up warranty stuff and wont the not changing out of the 3.73 be better on the highway and effect acceleration to a minimal amount? I honestly have never changed out gears and dont know the effects, I could easily decide the same once I put the 35s on. Just trying to get a feel for it.

I recently lifted the front end of mine, and went from 255/65/17's to 315/70/17's. My gear right now is 3.55. I found a gear calculator online and it shows my truck should be 4.10.

What are the pros and cons of going to 4.56?

Ristuccia-

I went with the BFG 315 A/T KO's on Weld Racing's Siderwinder 17X8 - 3.625" Backspacing. I think they look pretty sweet. Here's a link to my gallery...

I was skeptical at first too, but I've spoken with many truck lifters and they all claim that it is a very wise investment. The calculations of 4.10's bringing it back to stock are accurate. However if you have the 3.73's in there now, you'll barely notice a difference at all. The 4.56's will bring your gas mileage back up to stock. At least I'm hoping so... I'm getting 10.5MPG's with my current setup. I calculated breaking even in fuel costs after 7000 -8000 miles.

I'm doin it next week so I'll keep you posted.

What ratio did you end up with? How's you mileage?
