I also just noticed that the guy I bought my pads from is now selling them on ebay too. His price is much cheaper than what the other guys where paying on that other message board.

I bought a pair of these for the front because I was tired of the dust as well. They are made of a thin aluminum. The dust is GREATLY reduced on my front wheels. Plus they hide the break assembly. I may get a pair for the back just to match up.

One thing, the are unidirectional. (One only fits the passenger side and one only fits the drivers side) They have stickers in them, but I took a Sharpie permanent marker and actually wrote "driver" inside one of them and "passenger" on the other. I figured the directional stickers would eventually come off.

Something to be aware of when you rotate your tires.

Good luck.

Kleen wheel dust covers

Those dust wheel covers are a great idea, I've seen them at used car lots on expeditions and 150's.

I think oem brake pads have changed over the years to remove all the hazards to health such as asbestos. As a result, they fade more quickly, they dont last as long, and they create alot of brake dust.

I'm fed up with the brake dust too. However, Ive been hesitant to try some of these products becuase I heard that the kleenwheels can reduced the amount of cool air getting to your brakes and that the kevlar pads can reduce the life expectancy of your rotors. I don't like taking chances with my brakes but I was hoping for some ceramic pads. Let us know how your guys make out with these products and thanks for trying them out.

KleenWheel's advertisement actually states that these covers help cool the brakes. I was a little skeptical, and still am. But the covers have vents in them that are supposed to help direct air into them. That's why they are unidirectional.

If I have any problems, I'll post to this thread.

While the vents are an improvement over solid covers, I am sure they have less cooling than stock. Is the difference enough to worry about? I have no idea.

I took my truck to the dealer for tire rotation (had a coupon) last Saturday. I had a set of 4 Kleen Wheels with me. I asked the mechanic to put them on since my tires would be removed for rotation. Also, I asked wht the cost woud be. Nothing. He told me that Kleen Wheels come on Lincolns and some Mercurys. I am guessing that if they come standard on a Navigator, I need not worry about them. I think the 4 set is the way to go.

My wheels are still clean after 4 days of having the Kleen Wheels installed.

I'll probably create a new post to share my results, but if someone wants to buy them now, I found a source slightly cheaper than what those guys were paying on that other message board.

Contact this guy:
Jerry Blackwell ( Jerry@BRVRaceSupply.com )
BRVRaceSupply.com
http://stores.ebay.com/BRV-Race-Supply
602.284.9913

The part number is AP-1011. His price is $89 shipped. The other message board guys were paying $112 shipped.
Thanks Steve. I'm gonna order a set.

I love the truck, but between the squeal and the dust, the factory pads suck bad.

my front wheel brake dust was terrible the first few weeks, but seems to have lessened considerably at 750 miles....

Porterfield pads have been working great for the past 2000 miles or so. No more brake dust!

And no more squeeling too! OR so I thought...after a month or two, they started to squeel too just like the OEM pads. so just recently, I put some NAPA Disc Brake Quiet on the outside of the pads (a red "goo" sticky film) and no more brake squeel for the past 2 weeks now!
