Talking Nice Surprise

Had a nice surprise when I was looking at the air filter on my '04 f150 4.6L and noticed it looked a lot like my K&N filter off my previous 2002 F150 4.2L. It fits great!!! I am shocked and pleased to finally have something that I can carry over to my next truck!!

It looks to be the same size and shape as the stock filter, I thought it odd that a V6 engine uses the same filter as a V8

Mike,
It is the same filter, i traded in my 01 F-150 XLT 4.2 for my current 04, and like a dummy i forgot to take out the K&N filter in it before letting them take it away.
After looking at the 04 filter, i too was surprised that it was the identical filter, but it is the exact same.

You are not alone doing this. I had a '91 F150 and a '00 Ranger and forgot the K&N filter in them both when I traded them! I only remembered to take the the out of my '02 by fluke!

Well they say third time is a charm , im gonna just have to fork out another 50 clams on a new one once the paper filter gets dirty.
Since I will be keeping this truck more than 3 years it will pay for itelf in the long run.

My K&N filter has been in my '97 (4.6), my '99 (5.4) and now my '02 (4.6). It will probably go into my '05 (4.6) too. That's why they say it's a million mile filter - with proper care.
