Purchasing in Dallas Advice

Recent transplant to Texas here who is finally ready to pull the trigger on purchasing a new F-150.

Just wanted to get some insight into the Dallas-area dealers and some advice from the folks on this board about what area dealer may have the largest fleet sales volume and be able to offer the best deal.

I'd appreciate any information.

I got my STX 4x4 from Don Davis in Arlington - they came back quickest with a reasonable quote when i did a net search. They offered financing comparable to what i was getting through Capital One, and so far have been pretty good to deal with. The best thing about dealing with their fleet office was that they did not upsell at all, the fleet sales guy even recommended an alternative source for fog lights, hitch, bed liner etc.

Good luck, if you see the dark grey regular cab 4x4, that's me.

Drop me a note @ lariat54@comcast.net. I think I can point you towards fair pricing with no BS.

I didn't purchase mine at Don Davis, but it came from Don Davis. (transferred from there to a local dealer because it fit my bill) I'm not sure if all their trucks have it, but mine has a really nice pinstriping. It also has a bedliner and I didn't get charged for either one.

So, that place is probably worth checking into.

There's also prestige ford (in Garland) and town east ford (in Mesquite), they are two high-volume dealerships which generally offer pretty good discounts.

Many of the dealerships and sales personnel in the Dallas area are a joke. There is a multitude of moronic flunkies that know nothing of their product. If you want an experienced salesman that will cut through the BS, find a truck anywhere in the metroplex, go see Kelly Mayo at Bill Utter Ford in Denton, and have him bring it over. He's the Commercial Accounts Manager and has been working deals for 18 years. He will deal by phone, internet, or a cold walk in. I had mine transferred from Don Davis too. I shopped at 6 or 7 dealerships and they beat every other deal by $1,000.

I have to agree that Bill Utter Ford in Denton deals better than the other dealers in the area. I shopped a few other dealers and Bill Utter beat them all.

The best dealership IN Dallas that I have found is Leadership Ford off of Central Expwy. I found the owner of the dealership (Allen Lukehardt) to be a class guy that stood behind me when dealing with Ford on an issue with a defective paint job a couple years back.

I cant tell you for sure if they deal the best, but I bought my current truck from Town East Ford and have had to deal with the service department a few times and every time was a very good experience.

So based off of my, and my dad's experience with the service department, I will most definitely be buying a new truck in the next month or two from them and no one else.

For both warranty and non-warranty repairs, they took care of me, and I was not left feeling like I had been ripped off

NORTH CENTRAL FORD/RICHARDSON

IF YOU WANT A GOOD DEAL, RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE, CALL RITA LACK OR STEVE PERKINS AT NORTH CENTRAL FORD. 972-231-3491. DAVID WILMOTH IS THE INTERNET SALES MGR, BUT I ALWAYS CONTACT HIM TO PROPOSE THE DEAL, THEN FOLLOW-THROUGH WITH RITA AND/OR STEVE. GO TO RITA; SHE'LL WORK HARD FOR YOU. STEVE IS WHO SHE'LL POINT YOU TO IF SHE'S OUT OR ON VACATION.

TELL THEM "BIG HERSH", WHO HAS BOUGHT 3 FORD TRUCKS FROM THEM SENT YOU, AND SAID THAT YOU WERE THE BEST TO SPEAK TO IF YOU WANTED A TRUCK, AND NONE OF THE TYPICAL FINANCE MGR/SALESMAN BS.

MY ADVICE, DO YOUR HOMEWORK FIRST, GO TO FORD DIRECT.COM AND BUILD YOUR TRUCK- THEN SEARCH THE INVENTORY TO SEE IF WHAT THEY HAVE IS CLOSE ENOUGH. THEN GO FOR IT!!!

IF THAT'S NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU, GO TO BOB TOMMES FORD, AND ASK FOR RONDEY CALLAHAN. HE SOLD ME TWO OF THE FOUR FORDS WE'VE OWNED, WHEN HE WORKED AT NORTH CENTRAL.

NO MATTER WHERE YOU GO, BE PREPARED; EVERY DEALER HAS TO MAKE A PROFIT; THEY'RE NOT IN THE BUSINESS OF GIVING AWAY VEHICLES- EVERYONE WILL TRY TO MAKE A BUCK OFF OF YOU, EVEN THE STRAIGHT-SHOOTERS. YOU JUST NEED TO KNOW UP FRONT HOW MUCH YOU'RE WILLING TO GIVE.

NORTH CENTRAL HAS ALWAYS DONE ME RIGHT.

And no, I don't work for North Central- but when people do you right, you want to spread the word. You'll notice I said nothing about going to any other dealerships in the North Dallas/Plano/Richardson/Frisco area. I had bad experiences there.

REMEMBER- TELL THEM HERSH SENT YOU.
************************************

Note: You handle says you're from Central, TX. If so, it'll be worth your while to speak to Rick/Fleet Sales at Red McCombs Ford, San Antonio off of I-10. Rick may not remember me, but that's where I bought our 2001 F-150 SuperCrew.

I bought mine from Sam Pack's 5-Star Ford in Carrollton and dealt with Gina Juarez. She treated me pretty well. When they didn't have the truck on the lot that I wanted, their manager located one near Tyler, Tx. It took a few days to come in but for my trouble they didn't charge me for the fog lamps, side step bars or window tint!
