2004 Air Intake

Hey all,

I've got a 04 FX4 (5.4L V8) and I'm looking for a FIPK for it. K&N doesn't have one available for the 04 yet (despite the fact that the 05 will be out in a few months). Can anyone give me some suggestions on who has something good and where to buy it?

Also, does anyone have numbers on actual performance gain and mileage increase?

Thanks!!!!

I have the Airaid kit installed. Installed in about an 90 min. I can not give you any performance gain info since I installed it because I am constantly on the gas to hear the cool sound of the engine sucking more air.

Be careful with the Airaid Intake. I installed one and loved it but after a few hundred miles I kept getting the check engine light. I did all the resets but still would get the light after a few hundred miles. I contacted Airaid and they confirmed that they are having problems with a percentage of there intakes and there guys were looking at what it was going to take to fix. Like I said not all guys are having this problem but I guess some PCM's are a little more sensitve than others. I talked to the company I purchased the intake from and they gave me a full refund based on the information I received from Airaid. Airaid was really nice and sent me a MIT (Modular Intake Tube) and filter free of charge for all the problems I had. I have them both installed and I do not notice any performance increase but it was free so i figured I would give it a try.

I talked with the guys at Troyer Performance and they are hoping to have the AF1 ready for shipping in about 4-6 weeks. They are still testing but they said things are going well. I think Airaid jumped the gun a little on this one and didn't realize how sensitive these PCM's are. All the other big intake manufactures stepped back and went back to the drawing board to make sure they had a reliable product before they pushed it out like Airaid.

Like I said earlier I know there are many guys who have the Airaid Intake and have had no problems but there are also many that have so the choice is yours if you want to gamble or not.

Just courious, if you can't notice any performance difference, whats the point of purchasing a complete air intake system?
For the sound?
