My coin slot is electrified!
Hey, I was bored in the parking lot so I yanked out the coin holder on my 2004 lariat 4x2 (where the 4x4 dial would be - just pull real hard).
Low and behold the plastic part designed to hold coinage has a electrical harness plug plugged into the back of the part.
Any idea why? I don't see any lighting or anything.
Coins rattle in the dang thing anyways - who the heck designed *THAT* part? They must have designed the slot width for pesos or something...

If you got the center console, move those rattling quarters in there in the other coin slots - those work fine.
Again, why must Ford electrify my coin slot? Maybe it is sensing how much change I have and modifying the costs of a Snickers bar in the gas station as I fill up so that the station will get my loose change.
Any better ideas?

You sure it's a 'wired plug' and not just a dummy plug? The only reason I ask is because I know, on my 2wd, where the switch would be for the 4wd (old body style) there's a dummy plug that actually is seated behind the dash panel where the switch would be. I guess it's just easier for them to do it that way rather than to differentiate between the two on the line.

I was thinking the same thing, but what? I haven’t check the plug yet, to see what’s hot and when. Might need some help on that because I’m not to swift when it comes to electrical.
As stated above. All trucks are wired the same to some extent. Those wire are for the 4x4 switch. They are just not needed on a 2wd.
Its just a way to keep the wires nice and neat.
Or you could buy the switch from Ford and tell everyone you have a 4x4.
