I got a McStain on my seat
I got a McStain on my seat
So I'm in my truck eating a McDonald's Quarter Pounder the other day, and a drip or two of grease dripped onto the center of the 20 part of my 40-20-40, in a visible area with the console folded down. I can see this spot every time I get in. I hate looking at it. Any suggestions on how to clean it off without messing up or discoloring the fabric? And what to clean it with?
By the way, it took a while to figure out, but I've come up with a good cafeteria conversion to the '04 cab. Main course (Burger or nuggets) on the dash in the cut-out. Fries, wedged into one of the pull-out cupholders under the climate control things. And beverage in center console. Preferably the right cup holder so you can relax your arm over the left one. Oh and newly added, a couple napkins spread over the exposed part of the seat. (This set-up only good for those without the flow-through console.

If you really want to clean it well and get under the fabric, the cover to the "20" comes off pretty easy. Just yank out the 20 section, and rotate the plastic clips off the bottom. Then you'll have the metal, the foam and the fabric all apart.

Well I finally got around to cleaning this spot. Been busy with a baby on the way. I was hesitant about using brake cleaner, so I didn't. Instead I put a little bit of Era laundry detergent in a bowl, filled it with water and mixed it up to dilute it. Then I took a clean-ish towel dipped it in the detergent and rubbed the stain. Actually the whole section so I didn't have a really clean spot. It got dark before it dried, so I should know in the morning how successful I was. It was looking good from what began to dry. I'll see in a few hours.

Get some Baby Wipes. My wife uses them for just about everything I can think of, they seem to remove any stain, drip , spill, that happens in our house. We usualy buy the Supermarket brand

If you have a baby on the way then you'd better get ready for all sorts of stains, spills, and other messes. And yes, Baby Wipes work well.

This is a little off topic, but:My wife got a carpet cleaner for Christmas (Bissell Little Green Machine). That lil bugger is awesome for cleaning seats. Small, easy to use, and gets out stains, and makes your seats look like new....if you have clothe seats
.I use it whenever I detail my truck. Works great.
I like the idea of the steam cleaner, I may try that. My seats need a good cleaning anyway....
Couple months ago I spilled coffee in my crotch, all over my seat. I was pissed, but normal stain cleaner took it off. I would also like to report that there was no injury
