How much do these "flashers" usually cost? What kind of cool stuff can you do with them?

The "CAN Flasher" will be new technology, so it's hard to say exactly what it will do. I assume that what Superchips releases will function along the lines of the 1715 Max Micro Tuner, which is probably the most popular Superchips tuner for the 1996-2003 Ford gas engines. You can learn more about it here:
Superchips website 1715 Max Micro Tuner
Troyer Performance 1715 description page

I was on the phone with Justin from Superchips Custom Technology on Thursday discussing the performance reflash correction for my truck's PCM and asked him about the CAN Flasher. He just said it would be out "soon".

I just sent an email to Superchips to see if they will provide anticipated availability and features information.

My PCM was flashed

SCT's flash tune coming out, eliminates the lag completly and also improves shifting. I have it for testing and it made it a completly different ride. It now feel like there is 300 hp (now 325) under the hood. It has much improved towing ability. I can still use reg gas but for more power you would use the higher octane. I use the mid grade 89 octane. IMO it's the only mod you can't do without.

My message to Superchips:
"I wanted to find out if there is an anticipated availability date for a performance flasher/tuner for the new 2004 F150 (5.4L 3v). Will it be comparable to the 1715 tuner as far as features and programming options (and diagnostic checks)?"

Their reply:
"A Superchips Microtuner should be available for your application in the June/July. Thanks for the inquiry."

They didn't provide any information about features, but I guess we only have to wait another month or so to find out.

this is something my dad should get for his f150 IF he decides to go pick it up. Nice thing is, u can set the truck back to stock anytime u want to. Plus u can tune it for reg gas, mid range, and premium gas.

JohnAndDar:

Its best that they don't rush it.With a little more time you may not have had to send your pcm back three times. Hope it is right the first time.

As it was told to me by Chris at SCT you can use what ever octane you want but the higher the octane used the more hp. It's only one tune. There is another more aggressive tune but that must use premium gas.

hmm, i wasnt aware of that, but i think using 89 octane would be a compromise, because i believe the troyan performance guy said 10-15 hp gain with 87 octane, so u figure prolly 15-20 with 89, and 20-25 or so with 91. Soudns like these trucks respond well to the PCM flash. You can set it back to stock at any time, so if u need some dealer work done, just flash it back to stock

jagged edge, this more aggressive tune, you make it sound like its an entirly separate tuner from the one discussed in this thread.

That is the way it was explained to me. Once they come out with the can you can put it back to stock, but right now the test programing is flashed to the PCM from their laptop.

There was a guy at the Atlanta FFW testing a tune from Chris at SCT that I believe was giving him about 35 hp but he had to use premium gas all the time.
