2005 Info

Still no order guides on the 2005 F-150 yet (Super Duty and others are already out), but here's some stuff I've picked up from CONCEPS (the ordering computer)

First the disclosure, I make no guarantee that this info is right, its just what I can pull from the computer and is subject to change!!

only wheelbase listed on SuperCrew is 139" so it looks like we will NOT be getting a bigger box option

4.6L engine code is 99W so I'm guessing that it will not be a 3V engine, I thought that we'd have a 4.6L 3V since the Mustang's getting it.

XLT colors:
SEL OPT Description
_ AQ ARIZONA BEIGE
_ CX DRK SHADOW GRAY
_ E4 BRIGHT RED CC
_ JL DK TOREADOR RED
_ LD WEDGEWOOD BLUE
_ L2 TRUE BLUE CC
_ P5 ASPEN GREEN CC
_ T7 DARK STONE CC
_ UA BLACK CLEARCOAT
_ YN SILVER CC MET
_ YZ OXFORD WHITE CC

FX4 Colors (NO YELLOW LISTED?)
_ CX DRK SHADOW GRAY
_ E4 BRIGHT RED CC
_ L2 TRUE BLUE CC
_ UA BLACK CLEARCOAT
_ YN SILVER CC MET
_ YZ OXFORD WHITE CC

Lariat Colors:
_ AQ ARIZONA BEIGE
_ E4 BRIGHT RED CC
_ JL DK TOREADOR RED
_ LD WEDGEWOOD BLUE
_ P5 ASPEN GREEN CC
_ T5 DARK COPPER CC
_ T7 DARK STONE CC
_ UA BLACK CLEARCOAT
_ YZ OXFORD WHITE CC
(Note that F-250 King Ranch is availale in White, Dark Green Satin and Dark Copper with the Dark Copper being KR only so I suspect that the F-150 will have simmilar color choices)

Option's listing looks just like this years on a Lariat with the addition of 63K King Ranch Package, FX4 and XLT look the same as 04 also.

Hopefully there are some package changes or some additional options that aren't in the computer because to me these changes are a little disapointing.

Dark Stone is darker than Shadow Gray and I'd copare the color to the Mineral Gray. Its got a tan/brown tinge to it, but much darker than either of the other grays. I like it, but it is dark so its going to be harder to keep clean.

I do find it interesting that they changed the 'proper name' of the colors for the King Ranch...

We've always known them as Chestnut Brown (Dark Copper), Estate Green (Satin Green), and Charcoal Blue (something else?).

Any idea if the '04 issues that some of us have will be resolved in the '05's? I'm seriously considering giving up on this '04 and ordering an '05 when Ford starts taking orders but I'm concerned about the problems again. Does anyone have any insite on this? Any info would be appreciated.

Actually the KR colors are new. Dark Copper is lighter the Chestnut (more orange also), The other color is listed on Super Duty, but not F-150 (satin green is MUCH darker than Estate green also).

I don't worry about problems on either year, by and large the F-150 has been the best launch I've ever seen and is better than all the other vehicles that we've been selling year after year. The only concerns we've had have been inacurate outside temp readings (reflash) and some check engine light concerns for a throttle pedal sensor (5.4L's all fixed by reflash, 4.6L needed sensor (only 1 truck had this with a 4.6L). Remember the people on this forum usually don't post to say that they haven't had problems so your seeing a scewed amount of problems. Like the rear end shimmy issue. I work at a dealer and haven't seen a single F-150 (04 at least, I've seen plenty of older trucks with limited slip binding problems) with this problem so I wouldn't get too concerned about it.

As always, thanks for the inputs you bring to the forum. It's nice to hear your perspective after seeing so many people post with problems. It's nice to be reminded that those are in the minority.

No silver Lariat. *sigh*

Will the red on the Lariat still carry the mandatory 2 tone?

I'm surprised the "big news" for '05 hasn't been released yet...

What kills me is when a newer model year comes out, they tell you stuff like:
Newer heavy duty "this", stronger "that", improved "all around"

Sort of makes you say...damn, they "shoulda" did that on the vehicle i bought!
