I have had that head unit on order from Hi Fi Buys for about 8 weeks. It is supposedly coming in next Monday. Does the unit have a memory stick slot? I was under the impression that it did, and the other two Eclipse units do. It really looks great.. I intend to take out the tray on the dash and replace it with a center channel so I can have true 5.1 sound... We'll see....

The one with navigation does not have a memory stick. It is an awesome unit though. I am very pleased with it.

I had my speakers (with factory head unit and step downs, yuk) installed yesterday, finally. I had been waiting on the AVN2454 but got tired of the facory speakers. I put 4 6 1/2" JL Audio subs under the rear seat, along with the JL 500/5 amplifier. I have MB Quart Q series 5 1/4 seperates in the front doors, and some rather inexpensive coax's in the rear doors. It sounds a lot better than the factory system, but running through the factory head unit and the stepdowns gives me a low voltage signal to the amp and a lot of nasty noise that turns into hearing threatening distortion at any respectable volume. The Eclipse unit is supposed to come in on the 10th, so I will post pictures if it does (and if I can figure out how to post pictures).

Did you find a way to bypass the wiring so you can watch DVD's while the truck is in motion?

Ground the sensor to the parking break.

With an aftermarket adapter, yet. Search and you'll get answers.

Also..got rid of the AVN2454 and replaced it with Alpine IVA-D300 and Alpine Navigation unit. The Alpine is a much better set up..and I like the the touch screen on the Alpine better. And...yes...the steering controls still work with the pax-1.

No hard drive in that unit. I does, however, employ TWO optical drives. One slot for your tunes, the other for DVDs or Nav Disk. Hella-cool.

am i reading this right?! did you say the eclipse is an awesome unit yet you just switched to an alpine setup??? if so, what was the reason for the swap?

I'm getting the kenwood unit installed this month. Even though you have to hide the nav drive somewhere else as someone said on this thread, that's ok.... because atleast you have a dedicated drive just for nav. alone. THe eclipse is good, but lacks in the nav dept. because that single headunit had to support/handle everything.... cd/dvd/nav

We need some pics up in this joint. My imagination isn't what it used to be. Pitures tell a thousand words.

I will post the pics when I get back in town. I switched to the Alpine unit because I like the touch screen better. The nav unit is more acurate, however it is not quite as easy to use as the Eclipse.

Another thing, the eclipse has two drive units in it. One is for CD/MP3 and the other is dedicated to Navigation. It will also play DVD movies.
