The console shifter in all models

Can I only get that console shift in the Lariat and FX4 models? I was wondering if I got a XLT if I could get the center console shifter instead of the one on the steering column or do I have to pay more and get a FX4 to get that cool option?

Thanks.

Yep, the flow-through console and floor shifter are only available as options in the FX4 and Lariat models.

The XLT has the options of captains chairs with center console, but it isn't the "flow-through" design and still has the column shifter.

I am hoping that it becomes an option on the XLT for 2005. The partial console just does not make any sense to me, especially after a lot of people with the partail console in the "old" F-150's ripped them out to put Expy consoles in.

Maybe it's for people like my girlfriend... she loves having a place to put her purse.
My F150 is an XLT and has the center console. It's also not so confining. The one with the floor shifter seems like a lot of wasted space, IMHO.

ieee_raider,

That is why it should be an option. Some people want it and some don't. You should not have to upgrade to a Lariat or FX4 just to get it, though.

I love the floor shift. I never used the center for a seat on vehicles that had them, anyway. I always just kept my armrest down. So it was wasted space, anyway. Or is it really wasted space when I'm using it for an arm rest? Hmmm...

The floor shifter looks hella cool!! (IMO)

Blue,

I totally agree... however, they've gotta get people into the Lariats somehow...
I actually wanted the floor shifter (my gf's opinion didn't count... lol)

But I did not want the Lariat... I wanted everything but the Lariat leather. I couldn't have kept it clean for a week, it was way too close to white.

So Ieee Raider if you didn't want the Lariat's almost white leather, you could have went with the Lariat's "jet black" leather. Or you could have still gotten all the bells and whistles of the Lariat minus a couple things (heated seats and auto climate) and got cloth seats in the FX4 with the flow through console.

Yea I don't think you'll see it on the XLTs. Ford wants to make the FX4 and the Lariats stand apart. That's why certain options are exclusive to certain trim levels.

just like leather, crew cabs, auto climate, V10's, diesels, sunroof with overhead console...

they should all be available with every model.

I'm working on Getting the Flow thru console in my STX. Granted it wont have the shifter but the seats will be seperated and such. I really wanted the flow thru but wasnt gonna upgrade to lariat just for that. I have the console already ( 40 Bucks ) and i need various dash parts and stuff.

I'll certainly post pics when done. Oh and I'm thinking of a second set of cupholders instead of the shifter.

Actually I looked at both and decided I liked the XLTs design better. Yes, the FX4 is ultra cool looking, expecially the guages. In my case though I tow with my truck and wanted a place to mount my contraller. Right under the cup holders on my XLT I cut that bin and fit my contraller in perfectly.

Its a matter of what you want I guess. I did not need the added "bling", this truck suits me more then fine.
