Cool Hot Rod Mag

Hey guys, I was reading Hot Rod Magazine a couple months ago and they had an article about superchips and how the new F-150's and Mustangs with the electronic throttle won't let you spin the tires. I hate this! Anyway, I was wondering how to fix this, the handheld tuner, xcalibrator, custom tuning done by a superchips shop, or what? I'd like to get rid of this and liven up the truck a bit! Please help!

Well let me tell you this..my truck is a bone stock FX4 Scab and I can smoke the tires if I want to. There too expensive to burn up IMO, but I have smoked them a time or two just to see if it would do it.

So you guys at a stoplight can just step on the gas, no brake, and spin tires? I can't!

i can spin the tires from a dead stop without powerbraking on pavement......not for long only like 5-7 feet but it leaves 2 nice black rubber marks everytime.....even with the extra weight of my glasstite topper and spray in bed linner....if i use the break i can smoke them down and leave marks 20+ feet long.....i do have the tuner and magnaflow single exaust....my truck also never had a throtle lag issue even before the tune that i could tell....id say hotrod mag. was wrong..

I can too. CMKworm, what is your gearing? Mine is bone stock except for the Aeroturbine muffler and a K & N air filter. I have the 3.73 gears. I can smoke the tires a good 10 feet everytime on dry pavement.

i think it may be the gearing. i have 3.55, not LS and i cant either, not from a dead stand still. i havent tried to power brake it yet; it makes the wife mad.

Truck is bone stock 3.73 LS with a fiberglass cap and I can spin them from a dead stop w/o power braking. No throttle lag at any time.Truck runs and rides excelent.
Maybe because of the build date - 8/13(Friday)04

I can definitely spin my tires from a dead stop without power-braking and I've only got the 4.6.

After I got the superchips I can sometimes bark them when shifting into second gear.

I don't understand! My 04 SCREW FX4 can NOT spin the tires from a standstill going straight. Even with the superchips on Hi-perf tune, no spin! Why would some trucks of the same or similar weight spin and others don't?
Before you ask- I have the 3:73 LS and stock 18 BFG's

Mine won't do it on asphalt, but on my concrete drive way I had a nice long patch, and my driveway is not the smooth concrete either. Alot of it has to do with the surface you are on and how bad it has been weathered. I have an FX4 3.73LS, stock. Got this on order.
