It's May 17, 2004.

Hopefully some of the "issues" will be fixed at the factory.

I was going to do like you and wait for the 2005 model, but I couldn't help it and got a 2004!

I have about 2,000 miles on my FX4, and so far no problems. I tested a 4x2 Lariat first, and that one had a rear axle howl and you could feel the shudder as well.

My FX4 was perfect, and I spent 1 hour driving it alone before I would accept it. I also washed it myself at the dealership so I could inspect every inch of it for defects. I found 1 interior bit that had too much flash on it, and the dealer changed it before I took delivery. Plus he was offering $6,500 off MSRP on all FX4 and Lariat models, so I had to take it!!!

As for 2005, watch out because some factories from what I read are just gearing up production, so it's possible that 2005 model you bought will be from a "green" factory that didn't build an 2004 before. Just hope all the lessons they learned from the other factories are being applied to the ones switching over.

Do you suppose the build time will be about the same or will it take longer since all dealerships will be placing 2005 orders?

According to sources, the F150's will still be built at the KC and Norfolk plants. Anybody know anything different?

Also, they're not scheduled to start 2005 production until late August.

Ford is suppose to be starting production of the F150 at the Rouge plant in July. They are starting public tours of that plant starting next week.

I wonder if some of the people who bought their F-150 in 04 wished they would of waited till 05 to buy their truck, only to regret it when the 06's came out, and after purchasing the 06's found out they wished they would have waited for the 07's, only to regret not waiting till the 08's were available, then finding out maybe they should have waited for the 09's, then..........

Anyone know when 2005 production will start? I believe I read it was after the July 4th shut down.

You can bet the farm on there will be no problems what so ever on any 2005 Ford Truck built. All problems were in the 2004 models only and like magic they will not appear in any 2005 models. Now you might get a lesser truck also.

If Ford doesn't even know what is causing these "issues", what makes people think they aren't going to be there with the new model?
