There are several threads discussing Magnaflow and Borla (relatively quiet/mellow/no interior drone) and some others...let your fingers do the walking (in the search function). Most of us are hoarse from the debate about power/mileage issues.

I just ordered an AeroTurbine 3" in-out. The muffler is $196 and includes shipping and a hat. I plan to put a 3" S.S. tubing from the "Y" on out. Check their web site for sounds. Pretty nice! www.aero-turbine.com.

Magnaflow does not yet have an out the back dual system. I have been swapping e-mails and phone calls with them for over a month now. On the first go around they were telling me the prototype set was done and would be on the market by now. Late last week they were backing up the availability to late May.

So many companies seem to be having problems getting their '04 F-150 items to market.

Pretty soon my wife is going to find another purpose for the money I set aside last October when I took delivery.

I also went with the Flowmaster Super 40 system part number 17394 cost around 300$, duals side exit. I talked with several of the techs at Flowmaster and they told me when they designed there systems they maintained a stock 2 1/2 inch system. They found during R & D dyno runs the usage of 3 inch pipes actually lost horsepower and torque. They did put an set of 3 inch tips on there systems and lost no power. Just something to think about when changeing your exhaust system.

Carpender,
On your flowmaster 40 series, how do you feel the interior noise level is? and if you bought the kit from flowmaster, is it better than going to the local shop and having them custom bend the application to your truck?

Sound level is great, you hear the growl, but on the road at speed its nice. Kit is much better than having the pipes bent at a shop. They will be mandrel bent from Flowmaster and the fit is great, do it in the driveway in an hour or two.

I installed my Spintech catback and the exhaust isn't any louder inside than the stock one was, unless I floor it - where it is barely louder inside.

Paint,
I put two 40 series flowmasters under my
truck and they sound great. I use 2
because I wanted true duals instead of
a dual look alike. I had custom pipe ran
from the front to the rear off each header.
With the fords having 2 separate cats I
can do this legally in Texas(some states
may prohibit this). I also wanted my pipes
coming out the side instead of the rear.
I had them routed to the passenger side.
I love the strong sound of the flowmasters.
It's great. All this for about $475, Including
two chrome tips. Not a lot of interior noise,
although I do tend to turn my stereo up a bit.
The stereo sounds really nice.
Seem to have more hp since I put duals on
and also better gas mileage, although I'm
not sure if this is from the mufflers or the
engine breaking in.

Hey carpenter, where did you purchase your flow 40 kit from. Best price I can find is around $360 delivered from Jeg's. Also, do you have any photos?

Thanks for the help..
