Contacted the Ford Arbitration Board...

Well, guys, here we go...

Contacted the Service Dept Manger and he told me that there is nothing they can do about the howl in the back end of this. There is also nothing that they can do about my 10 mpg.

(Just took a trip yesterday with a 6' x 12' uhaul trailer yesterday. Inside I had 1 box spring, 1` matress, 1 52" dresser and that's it... I averaged 10 mpg. Not bad, huh? I would hate to see what would happen if I towed something with some weight to it. Still getting 12-13 mpg highway empty. That 14.819 was a fluke or something...

I am sending a letter to the Service Mgr, Dealership owner, and FMC (See how close I can get it to Bill Ford). If nothing happens then it will proceed to the BBB.

I want this truck GONE!!! It has been a horrible experience.

I wish it wasn't cause I loved my truck the first few months outside of the fuel...

FWIW the BBB is a toothless entity. Don't waste your time. Get a good lawyer instead. [ BTW I am not a lawyer]
Good luck.

I'm not far behind but I'm in Canada and it's a little tougher to get any results up here. Hope they clean up their act with the 05 because that's the deal I'm negotiating.
Mine has a few problems that can be fixed but the driveline vibration is driving me nuts. Of course everything is whithin fords specs

Lemon Laws Attorneys in Some States

If your state is not listed then at least read the site content. There is a advice on other Federal and State statues that are applicable to consumer complaints.

BTW, here is a Google search for 'Minnesota Lemon Law'.

Be nice, but firm. Let us know.

Sorry to hear you are having to go that route. I cant blame you one little bit though. Hope you get satisfactory results with all the trouble you have had. By the way, one question, are you going for FORD to buy it back then go with another manufacturer, or are you wanting a replacement for your truck? I hope your experience hasnt soiled your taste for the F150. Good luck with your problem and let us know how it turns out.

Grayflare,

Idealy, I would love to have this exact truck! Unless, of course they could fix the problem. Another manufacturer? I don't think so. If I can't get this replaced with the exact, then I won't mess with it. Ford has an outstanding truck. I don't want other mfg cause then I will know what I was missing with the good points in the F150.

I think I would be to critical on Chevy, Dodge, etc in hopes that they could even come close.

I'm glad you have a good attitude! I agree, I have had some great Ford's since 1984, and even if I got a bad one, I would want another. I hate it when people bad mouth a company because of a single bad experience they had. Good luck with your problem.

Yellow,

Im glad to hear that. I would really hate it to know that these problems you have turned you against the F150. I really hope that they replace your truck for the hassle you have been through. You have shown amazing restraint considering all youve gone through. My hats off to you, good luck and maybe Ford will be a stand up company and remedy this for you 100% and reimburse you for the extra gas. It would only be fair.

Hi Yellow, I'm also glad to hear that you are not turning against Ford. As stated, there are bad ones once in a while that come off the line, they just need to step up to the plate and own up to it. I am also having a coupe of issues that may prompt a buy back but am much more interested in just getting the truck fixed. It really is one helluva truck

Yellow,
I'm really disappointed to hear they haven't taken better care of you than this. It seems to me the solution is simple. PUT A NEW REAR-END IN THE DAMN THING. They definitely aren't playing fair.
It sounds like time for some horrible rear-end accident, Like all the fluid accidently leaks out and you can't get it filled back up before it burns up or something.

I know it would be hard to love any other truck.

I sent my letter to the Service MGR and Owner of Rochester Ford and Toyota. I also sent one to Ford Motor Company. I would have liked to have sent one directly to Bill Ford but had no way of finding an address.

Here is a sample of the letter:

I have proposed the following solutions: I have asked that someone to go on a trip with me from Rochester, MN to Cannon Falls, MN, for example. (Or to whatever location the advisers/managers feel adequate to get a proper fuel consumption reading.) During this trip, I would like to have the WDS hooked to the truck and recording this drive. I would like to fill my truck up at the Rochester Ford location. Upon our return I would like to fill up again using Rochester Ford’s gas. I would like the tech to do the driving so that it will not be MY driving characteristics being looked at. I will gladly pay for the gas used during this trip at that day’s current fuel prices for 87 octane fuel. At that time we can compute, by using simple, basic mathematics; the actual fuel economy. I would like to see how this differs from the WDS. (I don’t agree with the dealer when they tell me that it is not an accurate way to compute mileage. It is simple math, correct?) Also, an alternative option would be to test drive two new trucks and see what mileage calculation I receive with them.

As far as the rear end is concerned, that needs to be fixed. I am in fear that the howling will cause the rear end to fail prematurely causing problems down the road. I feel this way because Rochester Ford mentioned that because they put the ring and pinions in incorrectly, that is what was causing the howl. How is it “Normal Characteristics” now and before it was because they put them in wrong. I don’t agree with that at all. I don’t appreciate the fact of being told one thing and then something totally different once they figure out that they cannot fix the problem.
We will now wait and see. I suppose I will give them until June 1st, 2004. I believe that is ample time to handle this matter.

Here is a quote from another thread. Rear ends are getting replaced by dealers for this howling problem. I think your dealer sucks.

"The whine noise does get louder when you accelerate. If you let you foot off the accelerater it will stop whining. The shop foreman said it takes up to two weeks to get the rear end but said it was the best way to fix the issue insted of replacing a few parts that will give you the same issue again in a few thousand miles.I called the shop foreman today and he said that he has had 3 other trucks that did this same thing and this fixed it each time.

I have found so far the dealer i am dealing with has been great."

Geez, I didn't realize you bought your truck from Roch Ford. I work in Rochester, and I stopped at Roch Ford one time to look at used cars. Turned out they were one of those "no-haggle" dealers.

I just told them, "Well, no-haggle, no sale." Glad I never bought anything from them.

Good luck!
