Yar! The Borla Exhaust Sits Under my Rig
It arrived on my porch today. I managed to put it on in about 2 hours by myself in 87 degree weather. Thankfully the humidity was low.
Not to bad, but it would be easier to have someone who can tell you if things are lined up properly. I kept having to drag my big butt out from under the thing to see if my changes worked.
BTW the box that it came in made a nice mat to lay on while I worked on it. Here's a list of handy tools
1/2" Ratchet Wrench
1/2" Torque Wrench
11/16" Deep Well Socket (for leaf spring bolt)
17mm Socket (for leaf spring nut)
15mm Deep Well (for clamp nuts)
WD-40 (try not to get it in your eyes)
Torque Settings:
Leaf Spring nut/bolt 75 FtLbs
Clamps 33 FtLbs
After tightening the clamps to 33 FtLbs, I cranked it up and nary a leak. I love the sound. The power doesn't seem real obvious, but I understand that the computer eventually catches up, plus it looks real nice.
Here are some pictures. I didn't take a whole lot during the install because my hands were too dirty to handle the camera.

Has anyone seen or heard of dyno sheets for any truck tested with both the stock, then the Borla split back?
I really want to see the Magnaflow split back exhaust before I make a buying decision.

I have been enjoying mine for about a week now. I've noticed a small performace gain. Just when coming from a dead stop to full power. Seems like the getup has gotten better.
I noticed also that they are taking a while to burn in those new pipes. Seems like there still kinda stinky and funny smelling once I pull in the garage from work.
I love that sound though!

tomorrow ill be putting some duels on mine aswell. are there any tips on getting the stock exhaust off. ive taken a look under there and it looks like id would be pretty hard to push the whole thing back off those rubber grommits or whatever. any advice would be apprechiated

Yeah, getting the old exhaust off was not the easiest thing. What I ended up doing was hit the hangers with WD-40. I even Shoved the straw on the WD can into the grommets and squirted some right in there. Then after a lot pulling and tugging with my arms and nearly passing out. I pulled my self up to where my head was under the oil pan and put both my feet on the front side of the muffler and just pressed it out that way. Worked like a charm. Legs are a lot stronger than arms.
Millie (my assistant) and I had a good ole time. Later on I managed to teach her to roll over. She's a 13 week old puppy and a quick learner. I think I may actually attempt to teach her to retrieve beers. My wife doesn't like the idea of her rooting around in the fridge, so I may have to get abeer fridge... twist my arm....

I wish I could overcome my aftermarket exhaust phobia that I've had for 10 ten years since putting a Flowmaster system on my '94 F-150. It sounded nice, but performance-wise it was a wash. And, I actually think that the stock system on my truck sounds pretty decent.

This may be a dumb question, but do the exhuast tips ever come into contact with the bumper on a rough road or bump or something?
It's not just this kit, seems like on all split-rear kits the tips are like 1/4" from the bumper. If they do hit the bumper I think it would drive me insane.

I checked for that, and I was also concerned about it. I placed mine about 3/4" from the bumper and jiggled the hell out of them. They didn't seem to want to move much more than 1/2" at the worst. I test drove over some crummy roads and didn't have any problems either. With this kit you can adjust the height of them by quite a bit. I bet you could get a clearance of as much as 1 1/2" if you wanted.
The only concern with my borla system is that it might leave exhaust burns on the bumper over time. I can see that on cold morning that the steam is slightly fogging up the bumper over the tips.
