Question airaid intake

i just installed airaids 04 intake on my fx4. looks great, sounds great but, as talked about in a previous threadhttps://www.f150online.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=153500
F150online Forums - AIRAID Intake and Warning Lights/5.4, the engine light comes on. is the light an actual problem and i should consider taking the intake off or is the 04s brains clashing with the different air flow and there really isnt much of a mechanical problem? and, is there anyway to turn that warning light off? i would greatly appreciate some guidance
thanks for your help

ristuccia,

Assuming you feel confident that the Airad is installed properly, and your truck is showing the warning light, I would definately recommend that you NOT drive with the Airaid until the problem is identified and resolved. There is potential for damage to your engine, especially if it is running lean because of the sensor issues with the change in air flow.

Where did you purchase the intake? Have you spoken with them or Airaid?

Keep us posted please.

John

Does this have anything to do with the FX only because several guys with the FX have been saying this? I installed this intake on my 04 Lariat and do not have this problem.

Question

ristuccia,
Go read my latest update under user ID "kenng". One thing you want to double check - MAKE SURE the throttle throat tube is COMPLETELY down on the throat and square. I re-rigged mine with rubber spacers to insure I was completely seated on the throat. Then I did the "re-calibration" and the light hasn't been back! Please email me on your outcome!

P.S.
You turn the light off by disconnecting the battery.

well guys, thanks for your help. i loosened the bolts holding the tube to the manifold, climbed basically into the truck and made damn sure that throat was down. i cranked it up drove around the block and the light was gone. when i got something to eat later tonight the light was still off and everything seemed fine. hopefully it will stay that way. even though that seems like an easy fix there still shouldnt be any problem to deal with. im going to let airaid know im another one that experienced this. thanks john, black, and kenn.

ristuccia,
Out of curiosity, did you leave the battery disconnected and the run the engine at idle for 10 to 15 minutes? I want to follow this and see if "recalibrating" really is the solution. Thanks!

I had the same problems and airaid said they have revised there installation process which can be gotten from the web site. They also told me disconnect the battery terminal and leave it off for more than an hour so the computer memory clears it self completely. I will reinstall the airaid system in a month after I have a new compass installed in my 04 Lariat SC 4X4 which died and Ford couldn't reset it so they ordered a new one.

Airaid was very helpful in answering any questions I had sent to them.

I am also thinking of fitting the Airraid intake.
Do you notice a difference?
was it worth the effort?

Thanks,

William

Here is the link for the 400-140 Airaid intake:
http://www.airaid.com/pdf/400-140.PDF

It is in .pdf format and is 12 pages long with lots of pictures, so it takes a while to load if you have dial-up. Do you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer?

Well I finally had the same problem as most who have installed an aftermarket intake. I installed my Airaid at about 3000 miles and never had a problem till this morning. I currently have 4200 miles so I cleared the PCM by disconnecting the battery and let it sit for an hour. I then ran at idle for about 15 minutes and then took it for a drive. The engine light is not longer illuminated so I think that fixed it. Time will tell. This message board sure is great and thanks to everyone who posts there ideas and experiances. It sure helps all of us. Lets keep it up!
