Question Ford Accessories

With my new truck I get $1000.00 in free accessories. I was thinking tonneau cover, running boards, bed extender, and/or
remote starter. Which of these would I be better off buying aftermarket? Can anyone tell me about the quality of the tonneau? Will I be able to carry a 4*8 sheet of wood with the bed extender ( scab with 5.5' bed)? Thanks.

You can do better with all of those if you go aftermarket but if they are free why not. I am a big fan of Snugtop and would not do anything else as far a top or camper. The bed extender will only give you as far as the tailgate when it is down. As far as the boards I like Westin but the ford ones are not bad. What ever you do do not let them drop one of those plastic bedliners in, they are not worth it. I know this doesn't help very much in making your decision but at least it gives you something to think about. Good luck and post some pictures after you are done with your decisions.

In Canada, I'd go with the remote starter.

I would go with the bed extender. I use mine all the time. My dealer was hooked up with a local shop that supplied after market parts. I got my after market nerf bars added into my invoice from the dealer. If they will work with local shop I would get your bed sprayed with a liner. That should take care of your grand.

Enjoy your truck you will love it. I just hit 1000 miles

I'm with GrayGhost, I've got an '01 Screw and with that 5.5' bed the bed extender is terrific. Also, IMHO it's one of the few instances where the OEM part is far supperior to the aftermarket one. I'm going to probably wait to order an '05 and it'll definitely have a bed extender. I use it as much to keep things from flopping around in the bed with the tailgate closed as I do as an actual extender. I'm always running to the gas station for gas for the boat or dirtbike or whatever and it's great to use the bed extender to keep the cans in place.
