supposedly, if I read the manual right when a battery is changed the system has to relearn idle markings. after any changes on the truck dealing with the intake/exhaust system I would assume you should do the same. With the exhaust, you will most likely get more CFM through the engine and lower backpressure. you should disconnect the battery terminal, wait 5 minutes then "as the manual says"
1. With the vehicle at a complete stop, set the parking brake.
2. Put the gearshift in P (Park) (automatic transmission) turn off all accessories and start the engine.
3. Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
4. Allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
5. Turn the A/C on and allow the engine to idle for at least one minute.
6. Drive the vehicle to complete the relearning process.
• The vehicle may need to be driven 16 km (10 miles) or more to
relearn the idle and fuel trim strategy.
• If you do not allow the engine to relearn its idle trim, the idle
quality of your vehicle may be adversely affected until the idle
trim is eventually relearned.
If the battery has been disconnected or a new battery has been installed,
the clock and the preset radio stations must be reset once the battery is
reconnected.

Thanks for the info, I thought I heard something about leaving the lights on for a certain amount of time after the battery was disconnected or something? Another stupid question...When disconnecting the battery, should I do the positive, the negative, or both.

I was hoping that someone would put one of the Billy Boat systems on their new 04. I've been looking at those. Which system are you getting and did you purchase direct? I really wanted to install the Gibson dual sport but it requires removal of the spare tire, no way.. I'm looking for something not to loud but looks and sounds good. The BB system should be top notch for the advertised price..

I think I have 2 or 2.5 inch pipes with 3 inch tips. I didn't really ask because I really didn't have a preference. I still think it sounds great. If you want something that you can't hear in the cab at highway speed get something else. The only time I don't hear anything at all is when I'm coasting. But even though I can hear it, its not overpowering or make it hard to talk to people or anything like that. Its the best background music around!

It sounds pretty comparable to an older truck with glasspacks, nice deep sound and awesome when you get on it. Cruising on the highway it is a mild rumble, with the radio on I can barely hear it. They just chopped of the old muffler and tailpipe in one piece and put a 90 bend that exits in front of the tire and put a wide rectagle tip like a supertruck. Looks awesome and sound even better. When I go to sell it I still have the complete stock system, one weld and it's back on.
Same here but did the lightning type dual out in front of the rear tire. Sounds awesome except at WOT from 3kto5k kinda sounds like ol glasspacks. I actually had the flowmaster 2 chamber on and was dissapointed at how quiet the truck still was.

I bought the Flowmaster 40 Series DOR kit from Jegs for $399. Installed it myself and paid $20 to a local exhaust shop to weld up the seams. Sounds and looks GREAT!

50 series vs. 40

I put a 50 series flowmaster on my FX4 and I gotta tell ya, it's just not too noticable. Can anyone tell me if there's a noticable decible difference between the 40 and 50?
