Rubber Skirt Under Front Bumper, Necessary ?
Rubber Skirt Under Front Bumper, Necessary ?
Put in my lower bumper grill and had to remove the rubber skirt under the radiator to tighten bolts for billet bumper,, been having trouble locating the plastic push in inserts that hold the rubber skirt in place,, I can't seem to see a reason for this rubber skirt,, must deflect dirt or water for some reason,, but for the life of me i can't see a reason to put this back on,,none of my other trucks had one,,it doesn't really protect anything,, any ideas ??

If you are talking about the piece that I think you are then the answer is yes; you need it. It helps funnel air into the radiator. If it is not in place then you will create turbulence in front of the radiator and reduce air flow through it. That is not a good thing in the warm months.

The dealership's parts department will carry the little plastic "thingie" to hold the skirt in place. I think they are four to a pack. I had to get a replacement for one that fell out or something on my 99 SCab a couple years ago.
I agree with Screwdrive.
This may be irrelevant, but I had an 88' Camero once, and that lil doo-hickie was lost and never replaced. Im from TX and its a lil HOT here in the summer time. Darn thing ran hot all the time. We couldnt figure it out. We replaced everything you could think of....except that. Wish you were around then Screwdrive, prolly would have saved me a lot of $$$$$.
