Paint Problem
My truck is right now at the dealership getting a few areas of paint fixed. There are runs on the tailgate, black spots under the clear coat on the bed, and a few yellow spots where the DSG two tone is. I am really disappointed in the paint job that Ford has done. Not to mention the horrible display of "orange peel" I have.
I have an 04 black truck. Had 3 such spots on my pass. side. I have 7,000 miles so its been washed alot. I just used Zeno polish and no longer have the spots. I have no idea what made the spots go way, just happy they are gone.
Same thing, you could only see them if the sun hit it just right.

Dupuis, what did you think of the Zaino on the black paint? Which did you use? How many coats did you put on?
I just did mine with the ZX5??? And the hardener. I didn't think it took very good care of the swirls and such. Just curious what you thought of it. I had been using a profesional grade wax I get from a detailers supply shop named Malco with some sort of dupont something or rather in it. It seemed to make the black look softer and more refined but also thought the zaino was easier to wash.
If these have been fixed with anything other than repainting, it must be something going on with the surface. It almost looks like small color sand spots that did not get completly buffed. Normally that is a dealer thing but they may be running around at the manufacturer sanding a buffing small areas like that, but not likley.

Oh yea, stripped with Dawn, used the ZX-5 with ZFX and wasn't all that impressed. I had heard others talking that it is a better wax for light colors and was just curious how yours came out.
I was a custom painter for 10 years so I have a little experiance with polishes, waxes and the like. Maybee i'll run some finesse down the sides and corners with a polisher before I try next time. Kind of start from scratch with a smooth surface and see how it does. I really like the way the truck washes with that stuff. Looks like your washing with oil and the water stays beaded up real nice so you can get to it with the Chamois before you get all those little water spots dried up. These black trucks are pigs to clean!
Maybee I'll give the ZX2 a shot before bailing out completly. Went with the ZX5 cause I do have a small bit of swirls along with some Arizona pinstripes running down the side. Damn game takes me through all sorts of crap to catch

I'll throw in my experience regarding the Zaino on my black '04. Zaino was my "wax"(sealant) of choice for my metallic Silver '97 F150. It helped make that truck look awesome. I applied Zaino to my '04 shortly after purchasing it, and I must say I was disappointed. The surface was highly reflective, but lacked depth. Also, most people should understand that Zaino does not really do an effective job of "hiding" any swirl marks or surface scratches, which do show up particularly easy with black paint. I think Zaino is a good product...but it definately looks better on some colors than others.
I have tried Meguiar's NXT (which is synthetic, like Zaino) and it's shine had more depth on my truck than the "Z". I added a couple of coats of Meguiar's #26 on top of 2 coats of NXT and it has great depth and "pop". Of course, prior to the wax applications, I had to prepare the surface (clay bar, swirl remover where needed, then polish).
Waxes are a matter of personal preference. Find what you like and stick with it. Zaino does have an excellent track record for durability...I hope the NXT proves to have similar durability. Otherwise, I might go with Z for the winter months and other waxes for summer.

I wouldn't even call my marks true swirl marks but more like spider webbing that black gets from washing and being in the elements. This thing is only washed by hand with a sheep skin mit by myself at least once a week year round. I did clay the entire truck after cutting the old wax off with detergent. With the other wax I was using, it did an effective job of making depth, softness and a gloss like i've never seen from an un-buffed surface. That wax did make the swirls much less obvious as to where this stuff actualy magnifies the marks it seems. I always look at the truck as I walk up from anywhere and always pride myself from it looking perfect! Not quite so latley
When I went looking to give it a try, the web site say's
