40-60 mph vibration completely gone
I took the F150 in today for two reasons. A throttle delay and a vibration felt in the steering wheel from 40-60 mph.
To make a short story long, Here's what the service ticket read;
"1889 tire balance road tested with customer and verified concern. Performed road force balance on all tires. RR 3LBS LR 10LBS LF 5 LBS RF 2 LBS. Road tested and verified concern corrected."
Yup, not a whisper of a vibration on the freeway as I drove back from the dealership.
As for the throttle delay;
"Seems to have a throttle delay, hesitation before acceleration.
Cause: 1889 reprogram road tested and found operation to be normal as compared to other units. Self tested with WDS and received all pass codes.
12650D EEC (quick test) - Diagnosis - L
5221 W
12650DX1 EEC (quick test) - Diagnosis - L Extra time to repeat quick final test
5221 W
12650D84 PCM reprogramming - test - L
5221 W
FC: D41 42
Monitored PIDS and all readings were within parameters. Reprogrammed PCM to latest calibration. Road tested.
As far as the throttle delay is concered, I haven't driven it enough to make a judgement as to whether the reprogram made any difference, so I'll have to post back in a week or so with those results. I am very glad to get the latest reprogram for the PCM, but I'm sorry that there isn't any more amplifying information for any of you that were waiting for some kind of version number. I was too!
I will say that driving home from the dealer (about 20 miles), I reset the MPG "guestimator" and actually saw it hit 19.2 mph for the first time! Best I ever saw on the highway before was 18.6. That's a good omen in my book! BTW, the Taurus loaner only got 22 mpg while I had it: Now which would YOU rather own?!!!
Man, my fingers hurt from all this typing!
Hope this information helps some of you.

I bet.Keep us informed on the hesitation. I have a lil bit of hesitation as well.
I expect this "drive by wire" system will never be as quick as a good old fashioned cable (waiting for an aftermarket cable system to come out! ), but I'll let you know if I can detect any real difference.
I'm always a bit skeptical of folks that spend hundreds of dollars on a part that's supposed to give them 10 extra horsepower, and somehow they can really tell the difference!
I think it's mostly in their head, and I want to make sure I don't fall into the same trap due to wishful thinking.
