Grim,
You may not need to regret it. Mine is BME7 and I haven't had any of the problems associated with the software.

Build date was 09/03, the code on the PCM is HVS8. I had the truck serviced about two months ago in begining of February and they were supposed to have updated the PCM.

I want to add that I do not think the temp is working properly. I have gone out to truck in the afternoon and the outside temp is at least in the high 60's and the truck shows 52 degrees. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes before the temp starts reading correctly.

I'm not worried about the computer, I'm more worried about the mechanical problems that are cropping up on the early trucks that Ford has since corrected.

Mine was doing the same thing, except it was taking closer to 30 minutes. The flashed my PCM, it seems to have fixed it.

My build date is 9-03 and my original PCM code was ACB7
May 10, 04 my PCM was re-flashed when a #4 coil wire was repaired. I didn’t know the new code because the dealership didn’t indicate what it was on the invoice nor did they give me an “Authorized Modification” sticker. Today I was at the dealer getting an oil change & tire rotation, and asked if they could read the code and give me a sticker. No problem, took about five minutes to do. The new code is important to me because I am anticipating getting a “9100 Superchips Custom Micro Tuner” when they are released for the 04’s.

My new code is 4U7A 2B (I think) here’s a pic of it

Look on the white sticker on the bottom of the door pillar, driver side. The build date will be there.
