Talking Best mileage yet

Went on a trip today on mostly 2-lane highways. With speeds between 55 and 70 mph. Got an astonishing 18.06 mpg. That was calculated by me not an onboard computer. Filled up before I left and again after I returned. Went 233 miles and used 12.9 gallons of gas. After getting 13.5 mpg around town I am pleased with this highway mileage.

Grayflare,

Good for you.
That's great to hear. I hope it is a sign of continuing good gas mileage to come.

John

Thanks John, I hope you are right. I know around town wont come close to that, but if it continues on the highway like that it will be great.

Grayflare,

Excellent! It really does help staying in the 55-70 mph range, although it sure is a temptation to go faster.

How many miles on your truck now? I've got 1400 on mine, and the best mpg I've seen so far is 18.6, also using the calculator after filling up.

I have 11000 on mine and I have noticed the last 3 or 4 tanks have been amazing. After getting between 14-14.5 for the first 9000 miles I have noticed that I am not getting 16.5 MPG consistantly now. I even got 18.5 on a 7 hr trip to kentucky. The mileage gets better the more you drive.

That's great to hear!! By the time I have 100,000 miles on my truck, I should be able to make it to 16 mpg on the highway going 55 mph all the way with the wind pushing me down a 18% grade on a 15 mile hill.

Dusty1,

I just turned 3000 miles on my truck today.

YellowFX4Screw,

I have read the threads on your mileage (or lack thereof) and I hope yours starts coming around a little sooner than that.

So do I. I have two receipts for fillups. I need eight more before they will do a fuel consumption test. I have to take my truck in tomorrow for the howling. (they put a clutch pack in and the howl started)

Anyway, I am going to ask the Service Manger to do the PCM Reflash as a courtesy for me as a dealer.

Hopefully that will help a little until I have the 10 fillups needed.

I wish you the best of luck with all that and I hope they will eventually find your problem with gas mileage.
