Mud Flaps

Regarding the molded mud flaps for the Lariat Screw... My dealer ordered me a set, and when they arrived he said they were the wrong ones (for the non Lariats without the wheel molding...) Does this sound right?

Also I noticed only 2 of the flaps say "Ford", the others are not labeled. The mechanic said the the ones that say "Ford" are for the rear, and the others are for the front. Is this right? Are they a different size?

Thanks...

KTNC,

There are two types of the Ford mud guards for the new style F150s:
1) For trucks with Wheel lip moldings.
2) For trucks without Wheel lip moldings.

There is a separate issue that some have experienced, including myself, where the front Ford mud guards would not fit properly with the black factory running boards. If that might be a concern, I can probably refer you to those threads.

The ones with the "Ford" on them are indeed for the back. I believe that the shape for the mounting area is different between front and rear, so they are not interchangeable, at least as I recall.

Thanks John...

I'm aware of the running board problem, but since my truck doesn't have them, it's not a problem.

KTNC - I don't mean to hijack your thread but I'm curious about how effective the Ford mudguards are.

I've got a white truck and whenever I drive through a puddle or even a wet road, I get a lot of ugly spray on the side of my truck.

How much will the mudflaps help this? Is it worth the $68 Ford charges?

yan-

no offense, but you should start a new thread. People are going to answer your question here. I haven't run a search, but it's something good to ask. I have them and LOVE their performance.

KTNC

there is a HUGE difference. I don't have the lip moldings, and they gave me a set to fit a truck that had them. I installed them myself (EASY), and when I put the first one on (left front), I knew it was wrong. The plastic bag they come in will tell you which truck it is for.

They told you right. The ones that fit without the molding wont fit your truck. When I put the wrong front one on, it left about a 1/2" gap. I knew something was wrong. They had the correct ones the next day.

check my gallery...i have a pic of the ones w/o moldings.

KTNC, the ones I got were marked passenger/driver, front/rear. A little tough to read (that's what age does for you), but they are marked.

I just installed a set on my FX4 (with moldings). The ones with the Ford logo are for the rear as they are a bit wider then the front ones. I got my set from Ebay for 55.00 plus 9.00 shipping they are factory oem parts. I put them on because like others when it rained or snowed, the side of the truck and my tube bars would get covered in dirt and mud. They work very well and they don't look bad either!
