Hey SlapPaddle,

I'm STILL driving an '84 Subaru GL 1800. At 30 mpg, it's one way to keep the miles off the new F150 and the '91 Ranger, but not a very asthetical way, that's for sure. Hey, it's paid for and has a rebuilt engine, so I should be able to get another 100k out of it before sending it to the scrap yard.

Are you exaggerating a tad here? I have a hard time believing that you went through life without your parents ever giving you money for anything. If it is the case, must have been a shellshock going from nothing to a brand new truck! Look on the bright side though, you dont have to play NES anymore since you can drive your new truck, or even play games on your computer

Spiro my parents are just like yours. Never got spoiled but got what i needed, until now. I just got a Scab Lariat like yours but black. I only got it because I made a deal with my dad in 9th grade if i got a scholarship i would get a truck (and i still have to pay for some of it). Well i got my full ride and he came threw with the truck.

And i hate how some people do say that you dont deserve it because you dont buy it. I think that is stupid i worked VERY hard to get my scholarship. Harder than most people work with a job. Owell, any way nice truck glad to see another high schooler out there with suck a nice ride.

I agree with you KU, it gripes me to see all of the smartass comments made to this kid. My parents were fairly well off as well and though not spoiled, everybody my whole life threw it in my face. It is sort of a way to pat yourself on the back because you had it so rough. "Must be nice to have a new car at 16" I had an 89 Sunbird---in other words, "You suck you spoiled little brat and dont deserve anything." My dad paid for my college as well, and someday, I will return the favor to my two kids. It motivated me to work harder in school because I want my kids to have a childhood like mine. If any of your parents had money, they would have bought you guys a car as well. Parents do all they can do. Some, can do more than others. My dad was lucky in the construction business, and for some odd reason, bought his children things. 40K truck seems like a lot, but to his parents credit, he works to help pay for it. I can understand if the kid sets back and does nothing, just living off his parents,, that I wouldn't agee with buying him something this expensive. But he shouldn't be stereotyped either because to me that is insulting as hell.

Thanks very much for your support guys. I highly agree with both. KU, what kind of f150 do you have and how old are you? Glad I can share the same feelings with someone else on this board and have them understand.

Congrats Spiro! I to am 17 and have a new F-150. Mine's a Supercab FX4 Black on Black. Its an early graduation present. My dad fixed up his old 86 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme, painted it, put some rims and other stuff. The car broke down all the time and we got a good deal on the truck so he baught it. Looking in to buying a tonneau cover the soft kind and maybe a shckle drop.

Hey thanks man, congrats to you too. I think that the hard tonneau cover works and looks better. That is my opinion though. What do you mean by shckle drop? Is that just lowering it? Kind of counfused.

Somebody correct me if im wrong. A skackle is the piece that holds the leaf spring to the truck. Wick the shackle that djm suspensions sell you could lower youre rear end from 2 inches to 2 1/2 inches. People say its and easy install. Check out the lowered Screw on their web site. www.djmsuspension.com

yours might have less options? maybe it doesnt have trailer hitch? bed extender? larger dealer mark up? these are just a few of the options I have that added up to my total. and yes, original price on mine was 40+k. yours is also a scab, mine a screw. thats another thousand dollar difference i believe. forget it though! an f-150 is an f-150. may it be a regular cab base model or the lariat 4x4 with every single option. we are all tight because we own one.

by the way today in the sports section of our newspaper there was a whole page advertisement of the new nissan titan. nissan had a comparison of the nissan, f150, silverado, and ram. comparisons of hp, engine size, options, and some other stuff. but what i remembered and laughed about was that the titan takes premium gas. and imagine a buyer forgetting to do his/her research and getting ready to buy a titan and last second after they have signed the papers, find out that their new truck takes gas that costs well over 2.50 a gallon. i feel bad already.

Actually its not a 4X4 tax it is an all SUV Tax but they call it the 4X4 tax. Mine was used, the guy bought a brand new MB and had to sel the FX4. The weird thing that this was his second 2004 F-150. First he had a Lariat Supercab, then the FX4 Supercab (mine now )
