Angry Got in a wreck this morning...

So here I am driving to work, in the left lane of a 3 lane rd. (NW Highway). A Chevy decides to merge into me from the center lane. I slam on my brakes and horn, and luckly only his left rear bumper caught my right front quarter panel and bumper - instead of scraping my passenger side door. You know the part right above the crome on the bumper but just under the hood? Well that took most of the impact, and was basically torn out all the way to the middle of my truck. I was suprised to find virtually no damage to his rear bumper. No, actually I was pi$$ed that nothing was wrong with his truck. Anyhow, took it to the dealer and got an estimate. $1111.14. But that's not including the alignment and whatever else they decide is wrong. I will take pics of the damage and post them later. I used to have a '97 F150, and with the few fender benders I had in that (never my fault ), the damage was far less than todays ding. I thought that plastic/rubber part was metal. Oh well...

dallasdave,

I'm sorry to hear about the damage to your truck. The important thing is that you're ok. Sometimes I feel like my truck must be invisible...a lot of people don't do proper head checks to make sure no one is in their "blind spot".
(Locally, on the PA. Turnpike yesterday a car was traveling side by side a car carrier when the car carrier moved from the right lane to the left lane and "made contact" with the car. The car rode into the concrete center divider and a woman passenger was killed.)

One thing is for sure, you need to have good comprehensive and collision insurance as expensive as repairs are for new vehicles.

Dave, that really sucks. Hope you at least got his info so he will have to pay for the damage. I hate breaking the factory paint!

I guess it could have been worse. It's just that the truck is new and blah blah blah.... If this would have happened at highway speed, omg, don't even want to think what would have happened. But yes, he had insurance got in in the shop on Monday. Loaner car and everything. Hope they give me a Focus SVT.

Well there's your one mishap. What are the odds anything else will happen? Glad you're still alive.

Sorry to hear about your truck.

I have a history of having my new vehicles wrecked within the first few weeks and almost had one with this truck, but I got around him. In '95 I had a Contour that was drilled from behind while I sat at a red light. Three years later my new Explorer was hit at the same light. The light was in front of a mall and both drivers were women...gawking at the mall perhaps? I pretty much avoided that intersection after the second one

Last year I had an Audi A4 Cabriolet that was parked in a shopping center when some idjit bashed into the side trying to park next to it (they left me holding the bag). This year I had a car pull out in front of me on a two lane road, but fortunately there was a bike lane and I managed to get around him without bashing into anything. Maybe that broke the curse

Well Dave it looks like your yet another victim of the infamous" Plano left, Plano right turn syndrome"..making those 90 degree turns from the center lane

State Farm insured this guy. I guess the best part of it all is that my dealership is a "Service First" shop for State Farm, so I don't have to deal w/ any adjusters and agents. They take care of it all there. Also, I forgot to mention that I had to chase this guy down for about 2 blocks. He never even hit his brakes after he got me. I had cell phone in hand ready to call the cops if he didn't stop. So now my bumper is all taped together and looks like I don't know how to drive. Well, at least till Monday anyway.
