SCREWBUILDER, this is for you.

Or any other Ford non-sales employee.

Would I be better to wait on the '05s to reduce the risk of getting a vibration f150 Screw or does it matter?

I mean, Ford must be concerned as the complaints begin to pile up.

2005

I couldn't tell you. I know many people that have a 2004 and not 1 has the vibration problem that has been mentioned here. Therefore my personal opinion is that it is not an inherant problem with this truck.

Thanks for responding.

If I order one, I'll probably get a vibrator and then I'm really screwed.

I noticed that after I wrote it but for some reason, felt too mature to comment. Very unusual for me to let it go.

Why would you cancel it? Let the truck take care of the "foreplay". Hmmmm, if only the F-150 was good at cuddling too. I think I'd be willing to let my wife have my truck.............NAHH!!

BTW Jake, forget about the '05 and go get yourself an '04.

Just a note not every screw is bad I don't think there are that many that are bad just need adjusted. I waited 21 weeks for mine and I love it it is great and I don't think I could of stood to wait for 2005.

I think the people with the "real vibration problem" like myself have went to a place where they are more heard. ford-trucks.com
Maybe I should open up that can of worms here? I found how to test your vehical with a simple method. I coined this the "tail gate test" by lowering your tailgate, lift a couple inches (at the most) and drop with your hand still on holding the tailgate. Watch the bed continue to wobble for up to 2 seconds. Do it again and put your hand on the edge of the bed. Feel that? Yep, there it is. Imaging driving down the road and continuing to feel this. It's a reverberation which travels through the frame and body to the front of the truck and then back to the rear, to the front, to the rear....get the picture? Hope Ford does. I've got the truck in for the 3rd time and they are going to put on a vibration dapening kit (why do they have a kit?) which is a 25-30 pound weight on the driver side rear of the frame. I think to try to counterbalance this know affect, but not sure it's going to work as others have had this done with little results.

Try it SCREWBUILDER. If you're truck doesn't do it, it's one of a few. Of course there is the known low end shudder when taking off on a curve due to the LS rear end issue as well. Shall I continue or just shut up now? :-)
I know what I'm talking about as I've lived this nightmare since purchasing the truck.

Thanks guys.

Yep been hearing you squak all over the net!:O)
Ford will take care of their trucks, it is one of their biggest selling products with some heavy over seas competition....Lets face it they have always blown dodge and gm trucks off the scales...or should I say sales!
I bought one of the first 97 150 reg cab flairside that was delivered in new england...It was beautiful but it shook a bit at 40 and again at 65....The dealer had it five times, everything from driveshafts to entire rear end assembly. It dorve them nuts. Even a vibration engeneer from ford with a laptop and sensor.... I let them have it for a week after the five visits and handed the service manager a copy of Ma. lemon laws....Ford bought it back and 3 month later swapped all my goodies into another same truck...I got 11000 free miles..
have one on order from the same dealer...I already joked about this, but in reality I will always know that Ford will make me satisfied. This is how a good company stand behind their product. New models are always like this and if you didn't understand this when you bought you should be ashamed for not doing looking before you jump!
Another point is resale....my 2002 super duty lariat 250 with all the goodies cost me 29300 a bit under invioice.. I had the truck for 32 months and 33000 miles. I sold it for 24500 You can do the math but for a truck like this to cost me under 150 a month is some value. IMO

Foums can be a great thing. But there is also a big drawback to forums. You have a problem and post it here. Now SOME other people post that they to have this problem. You now take a HUGE leap in thinking that ALL people have this problem. I don't know how many people post on this forum, but in comparison to the total amount of 2004 F150s sold, it's not very many. In the old days, not that long ago, when you had a bad limited slip, you had it fixed under warranty and not a nother word was said. Now we tell the whole world about it, and everybody is sure that they will soon have the same problem. Go read a physicians desk manual and you will surely think you have 15 dreaded diseases!

I know of a fix!

Open the tailgate like you said. Stand close to the tailgate near the left bedside panel (some of you may need to stand closer than others). Pull out your pecker and lay it right near the hinge of the tailgate. Get someone to slam the tailgate 5 times in rapid succession. It may not fix the vibration problem, but it will DAMN sure take your mind off of it.

Tailgate

THENETGUY... Actually I work on the line that hangs the tailgates and I do that 580 times a day. Just because a handful of people have a similar problem does not make it an inherant problem with every truck. If you have a problem with a television do you automatically assume that every tv by that manufacturer has the same problem. I think not. There are a lot of people on these boards that have said they do not have the problem you are having.

I don't have any vibration in the steering wheel or any where else that I can tell. I just did the tailgate thing and YES you can hold your hand on the side of the bed and feel it vibrate for a couple of seconds. I drove an exact truck as mine off the dealer lot a couple of days ago and it drove exactly like mine. The bed has a little vibration that you can see in your side view mirror, just like mine has had since day one. The whole truck always seems to feel like it is moving, just like mine does. I have driven a lot of different vehicles and something is just not quite right with these trucks.
