Made it from here (Hutchinson Kansas) out to Denver, right at 550 miles and then the light came on. Made it a little farther on the way back (I would guess going downhill made the difference). I have a supercab FX4 with the 3.73 LS rear end. And that is with the 36 gallon tank. This was also at 80-85 mph cruise control and no stops. Not all that bad in my mind for a big heavy truck.

3.73 4X4 gets anywhere from 420-500 a tank depending on how fast I'm going.

For $95 bucks it gives you more flexibility in determining when you have to fill up. It you mind the pump prices in your area then it may pay for itself over time. I have an 03 that did not have this option. My 95 had the dual tanks and I miss not having to fill up for 600 miles. I am currently filling every 300-350 miles. Get the big tank and be happy.

I too have the small tank that Smithy has in his 03. I would get the larger tank. I wish my 03 had the dual tank or large tank option; it’s worth the 95 dollars. It hits me when I tow my boat and I get 9 miles to the gallon. So I have to stop too often to fill up. I will get the larger tank on my next truck, Does anyone know if I can retro fit my 2003 f150 screw 4x4 with a larger tank?
