Two Tone Paint Problem ?

Just sprayed off the underside of the truck to get the sand/salt off from the other weeks snowstorm and found that the underside of the sills had yellow areas in the grey paint, this is the rubberised stone chip paint.

Basically the grey paint is peeling off the rubberised yellow paint. It comes off really easily, almost as if it was sprayed over oil/grease, Anyone else seen this ? I will pop into the dealer tomorrow on the way to work and see what they have to say!

Rick.

I recall seeing some other posts way back about two-tone problems with the blazing yellow paint. Seems it was coming off around the door edges.

Although I really like the blazing yellow, it's not available on the Lariat so I won't have to worry about it. But I've only seen paint posts about the blazing yellow, not sure why, but I know it was a limited build item at one time, not sure if that has/had anything to do with it.

Had the same problem. My dealer had no body shop. I got 2 estimates and had it repaired then put on runningboards. My dealer has another yellow truck on the lot and while I was having some work done I checked it out. Same thing with the one on the lot. Definate problem. Good luck with your dealet mine has been great.

I have monotone and there is a big patch of organce peel where the body wraps around under the truck. You can't see it, but I can feel it when I wash it. I'm wondering if their painting robots weren't set up right to paint the lower portion of the truck. Could be worse when two tone was applied. Just guessing.

I had the same problem with the paint peeling off on the underside or Dura-Guarded area, you could almost brush it off with your hand. The body-shop guys said that shouldn't happen and repainted it pronto. Also, the brackets that hold the running boards on looked like they'd been sandblasted on the front and were starting to rust. The body boys at my dealership Dura-Guarded them too for good measure and re-painted 'em again . . . looks great again and should last this time.

Took it into the the dealer bodyshop today, guy looked at it and booked it in to have both sides done next Monday under warranty. Can't wait to see the final result. Rich.
